This would be the most exciting release since Shine A Light and L.A. Friday. The Fonda gig was one of the most important Stones-gigs ever, imo. They proved that it is possible to play the album live in all it´s greatness & glory without any Taylor-contribution. A historic event and one the latter-day-Stones most shining hours.

I just hope the cameras concentrate on the band on stage and not the glitterati in the audience. . .

'Sticky Fingers Live At The Fonda Theatre' was directed by Paul Dugdale - therefore the Camera work should be similar to 'Sweet Summer Sun', 'Havana Moon' or 'Olé Olé Olé!' ....

Sorry to hear. The constant cuts from band member to audience, etc. give me a headache.

Moonlight Mile poor version, but the studio one is so perfect...
No Mick Taylor and Jim Price, no string arrangement, that's a lot...

Spot on....nothing else to say

Just listen the show again.
Sway, Moonlight Mile and CYHMK with the limited Ronnie playing.
Nothing magic anymore.
I don't like him at all on this kind of songs.
Personnal tastes.
Overdubs required. drinking smiley

Limited Ronnie playing?
He´s marvelous and can easily make most fans forget Mick Taylor ever existed.
Great version of CYHMK! With the Stones, all live versions are different from the studio takes. This is not Supertramp, after all.
Fonda rocks!
I wonder what the 14 minutes of bonus material will be.

Both parties greatly exaggarating as usual. Ronnie does not *quite* fit for the Sticky Fingers material in the same way that Taylor would not *quite* fit for playing on Some Girls and later material live. It's not that "not quite fitting" means that they're actually playing bad, it's just that they don't (or would not in Taylor's case) add anything substantial that propels the studio takes into new highs. Nobody asked for Supertramp-like exact copies of the studio recordings, btw.

I mean, they had Taylor on board again for a couple of years so playing the entire Sticky Fingers without him is a missed opportunity - no more, no less. Then again, when they had him on board, his playing did not always convince me, to be honest.

That said, I like the Honda performance a lot.

Regardless of the endless Taylor vs. Wood debate, SFL sounds great. If all band members weren't in top form, that could not be said. Therefore, all else aside, Woody does a great job on this album. Otherwise we'd all be saying how crappy it is. We're not. It isn't. Would it have been better with Taylor? We'll never know so why ask? Woody's been in the second guitar slot since 1975 and he does his job well.

"Gonna find my way to heaven ..."

Your opinion.
Not mine.
After Jones and Taylor, Stones, the greatest, deserved a better guitarist than Wood.
Just simple as that.
I love this band... more less since some years...

After Mick Taylor left the band, the Stones changed their musical direction. There was no room for delicate soloing anymore. So I never missed Taylor.

Recent tours showed a sober and focused Ron Wood playing better than before.
On the other hand... regarding MT´s guest spots... You don´t have to be Mick Taylor to play on MR, really. And listening to his very few renditions of CYHMK and Sway one might think Taylor is no longer the player he once used to be... So I doubt he would have lifted the live version of SF into incredible heights.

Yes, he probably wouldn't. In his prime he could, but a rusty one probably couldn't. In fairness to Wood, he's been playing these songs for years so I get how he feels more comfortable with them now. Having said that, as a Taylor fan I would love to hear the man who wrote those solos play them. Even if they aren't as good or focused as Wood's may be, they'll at least be different. Despite Wood's great playing, there's pretty much already great official versions of him doing every song on the album.

Irregular and inconsistent.

The Sticky Fingers show is actually better in theory than execution.

They should have been doing stuff like this when they were younger.

Unlike me... I forgot most of his playing during the time period you mentioned because it was virtually not Stones-worthy. Different story since 2012, though.

Stones are different... it's not all about music... Ron fits the image, looks like a Stone, behaves like a Stone...things like these are tremendously important for a lot of fans. His best playing with the band happened between 1975 and 1982. Since then, it's been a mixed bag, at least until 2012.

Yes, but I'd love to see the interviews with the fans on the bonus material. We have at least two IORR users that were interviewed for that.

A nice memory for them, but what have they've got to say that is of any interest for the general public? The same could be said about these "celebrities" interviews. Usually lots of words, but no interesting content.

Perhaps they have better stories to tell than the "celebrities" that appear on the "Stones in Exile" doc, for instance. winking smiley
