No Filter.... meaning?

So we've had "No Security" and now we are going to get "No Filter".
I can not find any explication about the choice of this name. My associations:
pure, undiluted, raw.
Would that mean a back to basics show? Just five musicians, who loooove to play the blues?

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

We can always dream.

Maybe the «filter» were the extra costs for the stage and effects? winking smiley

I think it refers to the "PIT" (sold as NO FILTER PIT) where you'll be directly "within" the band with no filter, as for the rest of the audience, well...better luck next time !

Last year Macca called his tour "One on One", for no good reason either, it must be the same marketing wizzard advising the "old gods almost dead" ;-)

staying with the cigarette analogy, the filter would decrease the bad parts, or somehow enhance the smoke...

so, no filter would present all, good and bad..

and thats a good thing

The expression "no filter" means speaking what's on one's mind - with no censoring!

"No Filter means raw and untouched just like how you hear the guitar from Keith these days or from Ronnie or the drumming by Charlie or Mick's voice. No playback, no fuzz, just the stones without filter or any gimmick. I do still remember seing the Stones at Pinkpop NL 2014. They had the Metallica lighting rig but they hardly used it. Or Roger Waters at Desert Trip. So sophisticated show. The stones are simply with NO FILTER as compared to a lot of other music these days. Just my own opinion. I think the tour name is great." - bv

Typically, in the US, he or she acts with "no filter" is an expression we ascribe to outrageously outspoken elderly people who seem to simply say whatever's on their minds. More than apropos in describing the Stones I think.

That's what I've been thinking as well. When my Grandmother made it to her '90's and was losing it a bit, she started taking on the vocabulary of a drunken sailor.
Funny, yet very sad at the same time....RIP Grandma.

Someone with no filter is a person lacking the social skills to not use language or discuss topics that will upset the easily offended. The suggestion being that most people use the same language or discuss the same topics, but know when to draw the line.

It's a good title I think. Straight hit, infers intimacy without pretense? something direct and real? can the BS let's punch in and tell our truths or stories etc...without artifice or straining away the direct 'hit' of somethings power, or reducing/limiting it? haha opening with star star would be outrageous! "totally stripped" was an advertisement for this kind of thing I think...as well as some really dynamic versions here and there.
I really liked some of the B stage stuff a lot because it gave a stripped-down more naked, visceral feel...

No Filter just show up. Show up for your Rolling Stones passion. They are old,
we are old, but there is still the flame. Let's heat it up.
