Looks smaller on this photo than it is really. It's quite elongated, much more than it looks in the photo. I would say around 50000 is pretty close

so out of fun I made this. The left one is Hyde Park. There were about 65.000 people at the Stones concerts. Right one is Lucca. Same scale.

The trees look much bigger to me on the Hyde Park picture. Sure that the scales are definitely comparable? Just can tell from my impression and I was suprised how big the venue actually was.

There's a scale on both screenshots. I overlayed them in paint and it is exactly the same. You can't judge by the trees I think. There are big trees and there are small trees.

Thanks, StonedRambler, for that shot, which is the best image I've yet seen of the venue. And what a venue! But the area does look incredibly small and nothing like as huge as Hyde Park. So if what hockenheim95 says is correct, the angle must be quite deceptive. Is it right that a walk around the walls takes about 30 minutes?

To me the only explanation could be that the same scales might not give the same zoom sizes in Google Earth.
I don't know but my feeling tells me that it's not right. I have seen the Hyde Park venue just in July the day after Tom Petty played there and it did not appear THAT much bigger as Luccs as it is in the photos. I would say that Lucca is about the same lenght as Hyde Park but the width is much smaller of course.
But don't rely too much on my statement, maybe it just appeared that big cause all the streets and houses in Lucca are so small so it might have appeared bigger and in London everythings that big, so Hyde Park might have appeared smaller. Just my subjective impression.

Did not walk on the walls around the inner city, but I guess that would be possible in around 30 minutes.

Just managed to upload another photo, if you zoom in you can see some people and the Stones tongue in the back. Maybe that one gives a better impression of the size of the venue

Anyone need a Zurich to Lucca/Florence train ticket??


I had planned to attend the Lucca show, but now can't because of work commitments. However, I had already bought train tickets to travel between Zurich and Lucca (well, Florence actually - was going to spend two days there before the show). The train tickets are:

21st Sept, 0709-1035, Zurich to Milan; 1120-1259 Milan to Florence.

They cost me about £40, and they are more expensive now. If anyone wants them for what I paid for them, drop me a line. Email address is in my profile.

Must the LD ticket be picked up at a specific time before the show?or can you pick it up one hour before the gig?

I'm not sure about Lucca, I have 3 times Lucky Dip in other cities cities, and what I understood is that you have to pick your tickets with your guest at 17.00h. And your have to go to the waiting line and your not supposed to leave the line. (So you can't sell your tickets). That was how went for me this way in Oslo 2014
