Yeah. Fingers crossed. A cancellable, refundable train ticket costs 145 € at this point. Not making any moves just yet.

"Die Konzertbesucher werden aufgefordert, ohne Handtaschen, Rucksäcke oder Getränke zu kommen"

There's a new article about the concert [www.abendblatt.de]

It says that people are asked to not bring any handbags, backpacks or something to drink. it doesn't say if it's forbidden...

Worth knowing - thanks. I expect they will be forbidden but you'll be able to check them in somewhere. Unfortunately this will be normal now in the light of recent events.

No way you can check them in at a field of 82.000 people. You can't even do that at most arenas. It was a big problem for my parents in Las Vegas last year. They had a bag and had to put it in a locker at the Monte Carlo Casino

At Berlin Waldbühne in 2017 there were Storage-Stations for luggage - [www.Waldbuehne-Berlin.de] .

The Storage-Stations were a kind of 20ft-Containers, they could simply place some of them around the venue ....

You may have a point. Security took my small pocket camera off me at the BtB show at the Stade de France in 1998 and I was able to check it in for a small fee. The crowd was 77,000. But that was a stadium with infrastructure. The Festwiese is just a park.

I fly home to UK at 640am the morning after the show so I plan put all my stuff in a Locker at the Hauptbahnhof.

Can anybody quote the full Abendblatt article, please?

Is it the same one as here?

Where they are saying:

"Die Konzertbesucher werden außerdem aufgefordert, ohne größere Handtaschen, Rucksäcke oder Getränke zu kommen", sagt Rösler. Dadurch sei trotz der intensiven Personenkontrollen ein zügiger Einlass der 82.000 Menschen möglich.

So they are just encouraging people not to bring "larger" purses, backpacks or drinks - so that the security and entrance could be as smooth as possible? No mention of bags or backpacks being forbidden?

I was only planning to bring a backpack / bag with rain gear/extra clothing depending on the weather.

However, this article specifically mentions that "bags" are indeed forbidden:

"...auch ein Taschenverbot wurde eingeführt

Is there any official word from the organization yet?

I think it's the same as in Berlin Waldbühne: bags and backpacks larger than DIN A4 (21x29.7 cm / 8.3x11.7 in) are not permitted.

Waldbühne Visitor Information (there's a switch to English): [www.Waldbuehne-Berlin.de] . See also the PDF (in English): [www.Waldbuehne-Berlin.de]

But especially for the Danish Band VOLBEAT (24-Aug-2017) there're all kind of bags forbidden:

"ADVICES CONCERNING ACCESS CONTROL

All visitors will be bodychecked. Bags, backpacks and big handbags as well as helmets and vessels of all kinds are forbidden.
We kindly ask all guests not to bring items they do not urgently need. We recommend only bringing items like cellphones, keys, wallets as well as medication and cosmetic in beltbags or in small cosmetic bags max. DIN A5 [half size of A4].

Obeying the rules and advices as well as timely arrival will help to make the admission as fast and comfortable as possible."
-- [www.

(taken from Hamburg 1)

I think they will have special checks like in Landgraaf 2014. They were working pretty well.

grinning smiley A show in early September in Northern Europe certainly carries a higher risk of rain for sure. I've been to a rainshow before - they're usually a good laugh. If it happens, I'd definitely far rather stand than sit.

I was at the show at the Malieveld in Den Haag in September 1998 when the rain started pouring down after 2 songs and everyone got soaked to the skin. But the humour of the fans (and band!) was brilliant - everyone just got on with it. Mick wore a raincoat and big hat and the band still gave a very good performance.

Nope. My other shows are Barcelona and Paris X 3.

The great humour of the Dutch fans that day made it easy to cope with. There were 86,000 people there and the Malieveld was a mud bath after the show. Huge plastic sheets were being dragged above people's heads, each one keeping over 100 people dry!

Spain is not immune from weather problems at shows either. Have a look at this from Madrid 1982 grinning smiley

I love how the band just keep on playing despite the chaos happening all around them. True professionals thumbs up

And still the tickets flood onto German eBay in huge numbers, with most going for well below face. There are a few stupid touts (scalpers) asking for silly money and rightly attracting no bids at all.

Silver pits are holding up well at 130-140€ and seems to be the most popular section. But seats in the tribune stands seem to be struggling to find buyers(far from the stage) and I saw a 500€ front floor seat going for half price yesterday. I'll be in the Silver Pit but I have concerns about how this strange floor plan is going to work - in the floor seats some will want to sit and others stand with lots of arguments. At a guess, most people will end up standing anyway. If I was the band I'd want the 'Party section' at the front for atmosphere. There will be some bargains to be had in these front seats for sure.

Any sign of preparations for the show in Hamburg yet for anyone in the city?

Most likely all people will stand in front of their seats. This is a funny situation. I understand both sides but I don't like to pay high prices for seats I can't use. That's foolish in my opinion. On the other hand I guess you could call it a reserved standing area.

I think, there will be enough tickets available at the venue just before the show.
And if you're not in a hurry and stay cool you might get one for a pretty good price.

That's exactly how it usually works out. 'Reserved Standing'. A nice comfy seat until showtime and then stand with easy loo access without losing your place. On the downside, if you're behind someone much taller you can't move as you can in GA.

As MAF says, there will be some real bargains to be had here for those prepared to wait and hold their nerve. I got into O2 Show 1 in 2012 for £100gbp though I did miss the start.

When ticket prices are very high, the secondary market operates completely differently, especially when the clock runs down. eBay generally finds the right price for everything - don't bother with viagogo, Getmein etc - their fees are outrageous.

Yep, I'm holding out on the rest of the shows for good deals since I paid a hefty price for this one. Though I could miss something and the possibility of it being the last time creates some anxiety. Fingers are crossed.

You can't predict the weather for September 9 now - it is 13 days until that show today. Such a prediction would be 5% chance max. If it was Phoenix may be higher percentage but for North Europe September forecasts we have to wait until 3-4 days before the show to have a good prediction.

Really hoping for no rain. The forecast can easily change from day to day here in Germany. A semi warm day with no clouds would be perfect. That's my wish.

In summer they usually hit the stage during sunset (e.g. Pinkpop 2014). Sunset on 9th: 19.50h. But that's a little bit too early for a start I think. So we might see a complete show in the dark.

Does that mean we'll get 2 or even 3 support acts?

Apart from the completely unpredictable Weather, we do know that sunset in Hamburg that day will be at 1950 so the Stones will begin in darkness.
