But really bad luck with the weather this tour so far. September often is great even in northern Europe. But not this year, the first time they tour Europe this late, for several outdoor shows.

2-3 days off between gigs has been the norm since at least Australia 2014.
In Europe 2014, they had two days off between each gig apart from the last two (only one day off between Stockholm and Roskilde).
During Olé 2016, they had 2-3 days off between each gig, and a week off between Mexico and Cuba.
Exactly. Although I am one of the few who always had a weak spot for the studio version, too.

While I've always enjoyed the studio version (and all of the live '73 versions), it seems in the past the song has been bashed and ridiculed by a majority of members here. (I tried finding the original track talk thread but to no avail). Now it's being hailed as a long lost gem and has become one of the most, if not the most, talked about highlights of the current tour. Is this due to the fact that it hasn't been played since the '73 and fans are overjoyed to hear anything out of the norm? Or is it because when played live it's exceptionally better than the original studio version, or even the live '73 versions? Having only heard a few video clips, it doesn't quite sound as good as the original (and nowhere near those '73 versions). That said, there aren't really any Stones tunes I prefer live over the master studio versions - Midnight Rambler is the exception when it's played right. And none of the the Mick Taylor era live tunes have been bettered with Ronnie playing his parts - but maybe that's just me. So why all of the sudden all the praise and worship for this long neglected tune?

I think the studio version is not really well received, because it is the opener of the
album. After having albums starting with some of the greatest tracks ever composed,
the "voodoo riff" was not really grabbing the listener by the balls, like an opener
is supposed to do. If the song would have swapped places with Heartbreaker in the tracklist
of GHS, maybe it would have gained more appreciation.
Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

I know that the tempo of songs has been discussed, but when I first heard Brown Sugar from Hamburg it felt sleepy to me. To me, BS is nearly perfect rock and roll song. And I guess we can all have our favorite tempo.
The original is at 130 beats per minute (bpm): [www.youtube.com] A nice tempo with some swing underneath.
Here's Fonda a bit faster, 138 bpm. [www.youtube.com] I think this little boost makes for an energized live performance.
Now here's Hamburg at 124 bpm. It has somewhat of the feel of the original, but it just feels a bit flat to me at this pace: [www.youtube.com]
