I think Bluc Oyster Cult have crafted more memorable riffs than the (dreadful) Led Zep did.

True, Led Zeppelin must be the most overrated band the world has seen. Keith was right when he said ''they never really took of, musically''. Some of their tunes are okay to good, but overall their music is just too heavy-handed and without finesse.

I'm just now getting to the Kinks.

by that I mean delving into their albums, I always liked the radio hits...

but until now have not gotten into the overall work of this most musical band.

1) I never thought Harry Nillson was the genius everyone said he was

2) I always thought Capt Beefhearts 'Trout Mask Replica" was garbage- not an epic album everyone said it was

3) I was a fan of Glen Campbell

4) The Dixie Chicks are a guilty pleasure

5) I thought Linda McCartney was way cooler than Yoko

Boy ! I feel better already ! Confession is good for the soul

Same here, when you listen to their music today it sounds wimpy and dated, while Stones songs from the 60's still feel relevant.

Confession 4- When the Black Crowes were together and touring, they do a much better job of sounding like the Stones on covers than the Stones.

I respectfully disagree : live they did a bunch of Stones covers but none of them had the sex appeal of the originals.

I liked Grand Funk Railroad.

Or maybe it was just Mark Farner's hair. He had the best hair.

I know every word to Weird Al Yankovic's "Biggest Ball of Twine in Minnesota." Definitely one of his more powerful numbers. (Aside from Hot Rocks Polka, of course.)

I am with you on that. No shame there.

As for the guy who didn't get Nilsson...get the "KNILLSSON" album.

Orchestrated music that stands the test of time, and is timeless in that you can't even peg it in any way to the year it came out: 1977.

Just thinking off the top of my head quickly, stuff in my catalog: Nick Drake and Daniel Lanois, have some pretty interesting stuff if you haven't checked them out, kinda off the beaten path, I love all their stuff..

I still like this song from 1973:

Olivia Newton John - Let Me Be There

And I still kind of like this song from 1970, but not as much as the one above:

Anne Murray - Snowbird

I like both of the above much better than anything that is currently on the Billboard Top 10 pop chart.

I like Fleetwood Mac's Rumors.

Never liked Guns N Roses... can't stand Axel, terrible singer
Hate Abba

Never was a fan of Prince, and find his music has not aged any better with really cheesy synths
Not a big fan of Bruce

I think Dylan was a brilliant singer

Neil Diamond has some great songs (Hot August Night is great!)

Not a fan of Frank Zappa, a lot of his stuff sounds like comedy and cheesy. He is a great guitarist though

Rebuttals:
Harry Nilsson was brilliant! I didn't like all his albums, but when he was on, he was brilliant. Nilsson Smilsson is amazing as is Knillsson and A Little Touch of Schmilsson in the Night.

The Black Crowes were fantastic and did a great job with Stones covers. Their version of Wild Horses is fantastic as is their version of Tumbling Dice. Can't You Hear Me Knocking was lacking, Rich's open tuning didn't fit the song and the subtleties were gone.

like a lot of abbas stuff

never listen to anything of u2 post 1984

like candy statons 1976 hit young hearts.

i think a lot of the beatles stuff is a step up from kylie minogue

think a lot of metal rock bands from the early 70,s are utter garbage,

The Carpenters. Karen Carpenter is the best female singer ever hands down.

Oh gawd so here goes.

I listen to old school rap - Kurtis Blow, Sugar Hill Gang and the like when it was all about the beats before it got ugly.

And Mash Ups. Here's one of my favs. Mark Vidler is one of the best.

I guess I should restate. The 2006-2013 live Crowes of Stones songs (not vocals never the vocals) are better than the live Stones of the current Vegas years. Nothing is better than the 69-73 Stones live and somewhat the 78.
