It can´t be done. Probably I would have ten songs on my list before reaching SG... Picking two songs from each post-Exile album would be easier... but still challenging.

IMHO there are many very good songs, but very few real "classics" quality-wise 1973 onwards. Several of them are on Tattoo You, some on Some Girls, some on A Bigger Bang. The other albums have few or no classics, not even Dirty Work. There are more classics 1969-1972 than 1973-2012. So I had no trouble to make such a lusting.

The question that comes to mind is if a ''classic'' always is better than a fantastic song that didn't become a classic?

Classics 1969-1972
Gimme Shelter
You Can't Always
Brown Sugar
Wild Horses
Tumbling Dice
Happy

I would be happy if they choose to never again play those songs since there are so many others great Stones songs made after 1972 that's not played to death.

With "classic" song I mean fantastic song, not necessarily the warhorses. Things like Start Me Up and Miss You but also Tops or Laugh I Nearly Died.

I often wonder why there is so much love for Out Of Control and Saint Of Me. Both songs contain every element I don´t like about Mick´s solo work... OOC & Saint Of Me could be directly taken off Primitive Cool... horrible, makes my ears bleed.

As I said, it's not really possible for me.

Maybe they are not classics in the line of Gimme Shelter, Sympathy, W. Horses, etc. . .

But there are lots of great Stones tunes:

Heartbreaker
Winter
Coming down again
Angie
Time waits for no one
Luxory
Only RocknRoll
If you really want to be my friend
Fingerprint File
Hot Stuff
Hand of Fate
Memory Motel
Melody
Miss you
Before they make me run
Beast of Burden
Respectable
Turning to Gold
Dance
Sent it to me
Down in the hole
All about you
Start me up
Slave
Waiting on a frind
She was hot
One Hit
Had it with you
Sleep tonight
Continental Drift
Slipping Away
Love is strong
The Worst
Baby break it down
Thru and thru
Anybody seen my baby
Already over me
Lowdown
You don't have to mean it
Saint of me
Thief in the night
It wont take long
Laugh I nearly died

All this is good stuff.
I could name more or some others. But 10?! Come on . .
