I'm going to Lisbon,Portugal next month. Does anyone have any restaurant recommendations. Any sites you particularly liked(disliked). My wife wants to buy some linens, any stores in Lisbon you would recommend. Wine bars to sample.

Thanks for the help

Chris in DC -I'm marching on April 22, Union of Concerned Scientist demonstration, we have 120 people on buses going down from my town, and there is a waiting list.

Is it difficult to become a Portugese citizen?? Joking-maybe

The little square in Alfama has some nice dining places.

EDIT: I've only tried it for breakfasts and lunch. Lots of great restaurants downtown.

"Casa da India" in Rua do Loreto
(Despite the name, it's not Indian food, but classic simple Portuguese food):

On the same street, and on some side-streets nearby you'll find good restaurants.

On the other hill on the other side of the valley, there's a good African restaurant, near Rua Farinhas.

Another one which is good (but very popular with tourists too):

One of the days you're there you should just take a stroll in Alfama (the old town) and stop by some of the outdoor grills in the alleys there. Great stuff!
