There are lots of live version I enjoy very much. They are excellent.
However, only one version is perfect, and that's the brilliant studio version.
The overall feeling of the studio version tends to get a little lost in concert. It becomes more of a rock song than that of creepiness, fear, danger and that threatening feeling.
What a track!

Gimme Shelter is one of the few tunes I prefer in its recorded version along with Satisfaction, Honky Tonk Women, She's So Cold, Miss You, Let Me Go, Respectable, Star&%# and maybe maximum 3 or 4 others.

I believe there is ... as great as some of the live versions are, nothing comes close to the studio version, which is complete perfection!

I like the Studio version a lot, but nothing beats the interplay between Taylor and Richards, Philly'72. Best version ever, imo.

You don't get dizzy by the reversed channels?

You do know that Keith always is in the right channel on live recordings? On the Philly boot he's in the left, and Taylor is in the right channel.

Thanks, I never noticed that. I rely on my headphones basically. And in my car I don't care.
