Great footage but this is not at Muscle Shoals, 1969 as the uploader claims.
Mixing of Ya-Ya's was done at Olympic Sound Studios and Trident Studios in January and February 1970.

Edit: The uploader has changed the location!

WOW! They look so exhuasted and F'ed up!
Amazing they were able to turn out such quality in that condition.
Love the part around the 3:50min mark where Mick starts doing his "Little Queenie"
dance.

Always interesting to see that Jagger is very aware of the camera and mugs for it, while Keith seems oblivious (or else plays his role in a more subtle manner.)

So when they "dub" in vocals like this, is it just stacked on the originals or are the originals removed or quieted?

Chances are they leave the live vocal and record new vocals on open tracks.

Hey guys,
Just stumbled across a cool video of these guys mixing the album for six mins.
Sorry if it's been posted before but I thought it was cool and others would appreciate seeing it.

Enjoy!

Edit: Looks like it was bonus footage from the DVD of gimme shelter from around 2000

Found this interview with Andy Johns from the October 1975 edition of Recording Engineer/Producer.

This is just so great. Liked Mick dancing like that. This was the Stones at their best.
I miss mixing like that. When it was all hands on deck, and it was a performance in itself. Where Mick saYs "do you want me to do something?". Pretty sure Keith was moving the guitars, and the engineer, the drums.
That doesn't look like Andy Johns at all...
On the second day they seem to be working on crowd noise.
