Equal Rights came out in '77.
The Maytals were still at the point where ska/rocksteady evolved into reggae. It's one of the reasons I like the Maytals better ("Bam Bam" is one of my favourite songs of theirs).
That and the voice of Toots Hibbert, which IMO is one of the best voices ever, on the level of Muddy Waters and Aretha Franklin. His intense stage-presence is like a ball of energy.
