Now when your woman acting funny
Begin to run around
You better get you somebody
Put her down

But let her go
Just as quick as you can
You know that hoodoo girl
She is a hoodoo the hoodoo man

You know my woman got me on a wonder
Something I can't understand
Now I look at her running with some
Other man

After all
I did everything in the world I can
You know that hoodoo girl
She a hoodoo the hoodoo man

You know, she take all my money
Spend it all over town
When I want to love her now
She can't be found

I walk and cry
Drying tears away with my hand
You know that hoodoo girl
She a hoodoo the hoodoo man

Perfection. The best track on B&L, imo.

They haven't sounded this convincing since the early r&b-days. Excellent playing and perhaps Mick's best vocals in decades thumbs up

Don't know about it being the best on the album, but it surely grabs me by a bodypart
I do enjoy to be grabbed at. And it doesn't let it loose...

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

Hey! The 12 string slide guitar was played by Keith!

There are only two guitars on it, btw. Ronnie's in the left channel and Keith's slide in the right channel.

A very good track, one somehow feels that it was the last song they recorded in December 2015. Great playing, and a brilliant performace by Mick Jagger.

Passable, but the original was better.

I have to ask you what you expect from the Stones, if this one is «passable»?

I've come to expect music from the Stones that blows me away. Hundreds of their tracks do that. This one doesn't.smoking smiley

Fair enough. Nothing wrong with high expectations from your favourite band.

So happy this was included on Blue & Lonesome!! Feel more New Orleans than Chicago.......>grinning smiley<

If you keep the tape running for 2 hours it must be possible to edit 2.37 minutes of dubious guitar playing. Jagger is ok though.

Fantastic, definitely one of the best on the album!

The song itself is great and the Stones took it up a couple of notches ... and you can't beat Mick's vocals on this one!

Love it, love it, love it!

It is really one of Mick's best singing of the last few years. Not because of technical difficulty or hard-to-reach notes, but because of his style and his coolness. That swagger he had in the sixties and seventies really comes through again on this performance.

It says in the booklet that they recorded HB on the last day of the recording session, which lasted for two days only.

Doesn't it? Which edition do you have?

I have the vinyl LP and the Deluxe cd-set. Can't remember if this info is only available in the latter, though.

Ron and Keith have been long-term drug and booze abusers which causes permanent brain damage, and their playing on B&L and the live performances are affected by this. Most RS fans take this for granted, don't hear it, or even more curious imo: they think their playing is great. They love all the different releases and pictures etc etc, and this defines fandom, which is great as well. People who worked and get payed by the RS also praise them, (hence your signature) and that's only logical. I personally hear the destructive side of the golden coin.

No pun or insult intended towards the Stones or their fans. In the end its only Rock and Roll.

Sounds like a fine delta blues to me. All that counts in that art form is getting the right feel, imo.

PS: Landau got paid by the Stones in 1967, what do you mean?

To approach the blues with a non-committal and out of control sledgehammer feel is no art, imo. smiling smiley

Re Landau: you and I said it, he got payed by the Stones.

So you hear lower quality playing due to the drug abuse/brain damage? Wow, pretty impressive.

Re: Track Talk: Hoo Doo Blues

I don't follow you here. Hoodoo Blues is my favourite on B&L - both the playing and singing are excellent - and Landau was a music critic who later worked for Springsteen as his manager and co-producer.

Are you mixing Rolling Stone up with Rolling Stones here?

I'm quite impressed you don't hear it. Age might play a role too, but considering the simplicity of the music this will be a minor issue. To each his own I guess.
