Hmm. Odd choice. Was Charlie influenced by him during the ABB recording sessions?

Hey, y'all, ABB here stands for Allman Brothers Band. Put on Fillmore East, Brothers and Sisters, Where It All Begins, and ABB Greatest Hits and groove.

ABB is also short for Allman Brothers Band.

RIP Butch. Thanks for holding it steady for all those years... Also thanks for setting your nephew on a good course when he showed interest in the guitar.

Peace,
Mr DJA

RIP Butch. You played on one of the all time great live albums - Allman Brothers Live at Fillmore East and for that you have a place in rock history.

Such a bummer!
Butch was a big part of the ABB sound.
His bands solo band projects after the breakup were great as well.
He will be missed.

Damn, here we go again.

First saw the ABB at the Fillmore East, opening for Johnny Winter, and then many times over the years, including the last Beacon Show. I kind of figured it really was the end when I saw them take this shot:

Saw the ABB about 40 times between 1992 and 2014. Butch was the anchor of that band through all the various lineup changes.

Someone should make a sound collage composed entirely of ABB song endings where Butch jumped behind the tympanis. It'd be like Neil Young's Arc.
