Gas Street Light...here's the thread you requested:

Rolling Stones songs that don't include either Mick, Keith or Charlie:

You Can't Always Get What You Want - No Charlie on Drums - Jimmy Miller
Sway - No Keith on Guitar
Moonlight Mile - No Keith on Guitar
Happy - No Charlie on Drums - Jimmy Miller
It's Only Rock N Roll - No Charlie on drums
Too Rude - No Mick
Sleep Tonight - No Mick

Stones experts - please add...and correct me if I am wrong.

Why is this called the 'Three Original Members'? That certainly wouldn't include Charlie, Bill was a Rolling Stone before Watts. And of course Brian and Stu came before Mick or Keith.

What's the benefit to know that there's no Charlie on As Tears Go By or no Mick on Infamy? I can hear that, therefore it certainly ain't earthshattering news.

Just answering the question! Just like No Charlie on Lady Jane! Also no Mick on 3 Keith songs on Bridges: You Don't Have To Mean It, Thief In The Night and How Can I Stop. I was also going to say no Mick on 2120 SMA but found out he's playing tambourine!
How about a track with no Stones? We Want The Stones, first track on Got Live EP which is just the crowd chanting We Want The Stones, yet credited to Nanker Phelge!

No Keith on Downtown Suzie
No Mick on All About You
No Mick on Wanna Hold You
No Mick on Can't Be Seen
No Mick on You Don't Have To Mean It
No Mick on Thief In The Night
No Mick on How Can I Stop
No Mick on Hurricane
No Mick on You Got The Silver
No Keith guitar on She Smiled Sweetly (but vocals and other things should count as an instrument, imo, hence he is on Sway as well - and others)
No Keith on Mona (he is listed on several sites, but I can only hear one guitar: Brian's)

The thread title should rather be «Stones songs where one or more of the original members that still play in the group are missing in action»?

So does Keith play anything on Moonlight Mile?

In 71 Keith said: The only thing in Sticky Fingers I don't have anything to do with is Moonlight Mile, 'cause I wasn't there when they did it. It was great to hear that because I was very out of it by the end of the album and it was like listening, really listening. It was really nice.

He also said in 71: I thought I wasn't on Moonlight Mile but the last riff everybody gets into playing is a riff I'd been playing on earlier tapes before I dropped out.

But Taylor in 2011 said: I contributed the riff that Paul Buckmaster's strings are based on - that ethereal, unresolved ending.

Is Keith and Taylor talking about the same guitar part?

this is related I think, to the development of the song 'Memo from Turner'...

without looking it up, wasnt there a version with and without the Stones, of this song?

does it even count as a Stones song..? I love it..

I don't think so.

There's nothing ethereal about the classic Keith-riff before the ending part (those two notes).

However, Charlie's, Bill's and Keith's talk about «Keith's japanese thing» is more interesting (and confusing) smiling smiley

Yes. They wiped Bowie's contribution, though. Jones and Weeks were indeed the rhythm section. Ronnie's guitar is on it, too.

I did not know for Happy (without Charlie !)

From tioos.com:

«Happy was something I did because I was for one time EARLY for a session. There was Bobby Keys and Jimmy Miller. And we were in the South of France, it was at the time we were recording Exile. We had nothing to do and had suddenly picked up the guitar and played this riff. So we cut it and it's the record, it's the same. We cut the original track with a baritone sax, a guitar and Jimmy Miller on drums. And the rest of it is built up over that track. It was just an afternoon jam that everybody said, Wow, yeah, work on it.
- Keith Richards, 1982»
