For any Los Angeles IORR's...

Jesse Malin is playing at The Roxy on January 26th.
Lots of special guests and a performance of GOATS HEAD SOUP!

Sounds cool! Let me know if anyone goes.

I wonder why anybody should want to perform the Stones´ most boring album ever.
It´s a mystery to me.

You're right. This is sooooooooo boring:

Dancing with Mr. D., Coming Down Again, Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker),Angie, Silver Train, Hide Your Love, Winter, Can You Hear the Music and Star Star.

what kind of band makes this awful music? who do they think they are? next thing you know they'll probably want to sell out stadiums all over the world and sell hundreds of millions of records for over 50 years. what a bunch of arrogant losers.

I listen to Jesse Malin on The underground garage radio show and he is very good. I had heard of him but I don't know his music. Goat Head's Soup is a surprising choice; I wish I could be there.
Rockandroll,

The dude's a legend, to me anyway.

He's done Sway before

** Link: Jesse Malin, Sway **

I've seen him live a couple times, once solo and once w/ his St. Marks Social band. He's a big fan of 2 of my favorite groups/performers ... Stones, and Shane MacGowan.

Yeah, he's not well known. He was in some early punk bands that had cult followings around NYC, but he's most well known for D Generation, a band I only knew about from a friend that used to play them. I have been following him ever since, get all his albums, he always has at least 4 or 5 really good songs per album.

Here's one of his biggest post-D-Generation hits, a great song called
Burning The Bowery

Jesse Malin is very good. He fronted a tough NYC band called D Generation. They put out maybe 3 albums, and reunited recently. He has done around 6 solo albums. all very good.

What constitutes a 'tough' band ?
Were the Rolling Stones a "tough' London band in 1962 ?

Cool!! I like this concept where a bunch of musicians gather to play a full Stones album.
There were several of these a couple of years back for Exile. Great album. Great music. FUN!

He's not playing Dirty Work.

The fact that you don't like GHS is pretty high praise for the album.

Jesse played this same show on Dec. 20th at The Bowrery in NYC. I was there. it was fabulous.

Don Dilego was a standout performer on the Bill that night. His new record "Magnificent Ram A" is very very good. Check it out.

Joan Jett closed the show, Doing StarF-er. Fabulous!!

Star Star, Hide Your Love & Heartbreaker are the only songs on GHS that deserve to be listened to, imo. Everything else: subpar boring stuff hardly worth to be sold under the tongue-trademark. By the time they recorded this album they were completely running on empty after being a decade on the road and in recording studios.

Love this album. It would appear boring when 1st listened to but to me it's one of their best. Winter is sublime!
