Sometimes the Stones are 3rd or 4th or 5th. Other times they're 1st.

Since it's all time and time is always it always changes for all of the time.

That's a very hard question for me; because there are easily 10 names that I can think of.

To be fair, I take The Beatles out of the mix. I kind of consider them an entire genre unto themselves.

That said, I would have to give the nod to The Allman Brothers Band. I have hundreds of their shows and I never get tired of listening to them, especially the first and last incarnations. Hope they will regroup while they can!

As for my second favorite band of all time? The Stones.
(The Beatles being #1).

Same here. On some days they swap spots. But that's definitely my 1&2.

Many in distant second. Allan Bros are up there. I can't listen to the Beatles endlessly as I can the Stones.

For me it is impossible to say any other band than The Beatles.

Wilko-era Dr Feelgood! Definitely one of the best live bands I've ever seen and the recordings still hold up well.

well i'd stick with The Kinks as my SECOND fave of all time but also think Van Morrison's Caledonian Soul Orchestra guys...and some women here as well in the string section....
some of These guys were on Moondance and a few solo albums after that, most essentially imo the double live LP
"It's Too Late To Stop Now"....these guys are astonishing...the cover material is presented so honestly; feels personal and unique...
the apex climax of the show is goosebumps guaranteed...it ain't for nothing it's The Caledonian SOUL Orchestra....
It's not rock or rock and roll tho, it's all r&b, blues and jump swing kind of stuff. It's own kind of soul music.
I really feel Sam Cooke would have been very proud of this, and what he had done bringing soul music to pop charts in the first place.
I think Ray Charles would be grinning from ear to ear. But that's just my virulent lifelong fandom w Van. I still think Here Comes The Night and other Them material waaay back in the day really has it.

This is an evergreen for over 40 years and still always sounds fresh; there's nothng at all about this production that's ancient or dated.
."Listen To The Lion,"...deep tracks, it's all here. I think a lot of this may have been done the same place as TAMI show...think he was playing like 2 to 3 thousand seaters at these shows...perfect.

Very true.

For some passionate fans, their favourite band is a religion...other bands are just bands...some better than others.

It's because - at least for me - the Stones are way, way, way up at the top, and then there are other bands I enjoy but they come nowhere near that rarefied stratosphere.

as mentioned in another thread there was the original
Jeff Beck Group,
the Jimi Hendrix Experience really blew me away when I first heard/saw them.

I think I speak for almost everyone, the second favorite band is either The Beatles or the Stones and the first favorite band is either the Stones or The Beatles...
