I got luck and was able to get Red Zone tickets with my legacy fan club membership. Much better than the old Rolling Stone Fan Club. Who else remembers paying $100 a year to be offered not-so-great seats in the fan club presale?

I opted for Los Angeles, because I need to schedule any trip to Europe around a Stones show. I wish they wouldn't wait so long to announce.

I had three separate memberships using different emails for the RS fan club, and was able to get a pair of tickets to three different club/theater shows during the Licks tour!

My friend tried too sad smiley Unlike show 1 at Twickenham, no presale for the 2nd show. It's widely believed that Ticketmaster diverted all the tickets straight to Seatwave and Getmein, both of which they own.

It's absolutely disgusting and an exploitation racket.

Everything about everything this band pretends to represent and what they sound like has always struck me as bad noise and a bad pose.
I know they're wildly popular obviously. Bobo is like the Jerry Lewis of rock. Edge an outright wildly destructive habitat destroying mega developer; it's all just such pure bullshit and sound like it.

Apart from "I hate U2", what's your point?

Sometimes when I am playing trivia online, I almost do not want to answer some questions to not reveal that I know some things which I would rather not know. I wonder myslf how do I even know that.
Hey, knowledge is knowledge. I have a pretty damn good memory, so at least I feel like I'm not losing it as I get older.

Imagine if this person wrote about the Stones like this; could easily switch U2 to The Rolling Stones...

Fans age, get richer, and funnel money into the pockets of artists to tour on one condition: To hell with the new stuff, play me the soundtrack of my youth. Even in decline, the miracles of modern plastic surgery and computer-programmed backing tracks make any physical or musical deterioration on stage almost imperceptible. As fans, we don’t even want a new album. Just put us in the world’s closest thing to a time machine and play the goddamn hits.

Well, U2 is at the same stage of their career that the Stones were at when they did "40 Licks", hard to believe.

The guys in U2 just don't look as old as the Stones did even back then, plus the Stones already blazed the trail for aging rockers kicking ass onstage, so seeing U2 and other bands in their 50s and 60s isn't as jarring.

Re: OT: U2

They're at the FORTY LICKS part that the Stones were at age wise: that's crazy.

I get the feeling they won't go much longer. This JOSHUA TREE tour, the new LP coming out and its tour may be it. Bono and Adam Clayton are 56, Edge and Larry Mullen are 55. By the time they wrap up this coming tour and the new album and it's tour, which like previous tours, take forever, they'll be almost 60. They've talked about stopping sooner rather than later.

But one never knows... as we all know as fans of the Stones.

Gotta give credit to Bono for not going solo...
Other than the tune for the movie In the Name of the Father, has he ever recorded outside of the band?

Wow he has done a lot apart from U2, but yeah what I meant was going solo in the hopes of making it big ala Sting or Mick and/or any other bad decision makers.

You're right he did - maybe it was a wise choice?
Was never really a fan of the Police aside from a few early tunes, and never liked any of his solo stuff, so....

Stevie Nicks is another who made it big!
