My friend works in the press department at UME and he's on vacations with his family in Europe this month.

The Stones information is few, they are a tight circle so we get what we can.

Again, the last leaked information is a new album done by summer so until October we won't know if the album will be released this year.

We're on April.

The album is still in the can, there's no deadline so the chances are 50/50 for this year, the tour is the main project right now.

Universal is still selling thousands of copies of B&L and with the new tour the album will sell many more.

IMO, the new album will be released next year, there's no pressure, one project at the time and right now is the European Tour.

What do you mean by "still in the can" ? "In the can" would mean finished but based on Charlie's comments it doesn't seem to be the case, so rather "still in the works"?

It will be called No Filter and will be recorded live on the tour, with a DVD and a Japanese edition with some bonus tracks. No new songs. That's my guess for the new album.

Now, I live in Australia and would be so happy to have them here again after 2014. But what is it that makes some people on here so sure they will ever get back down under again? I have read on more than several posts that people are saying another run down here. So soon after last touring? But please... not at the prices we had last time...AUD$580 per ticket!! In the stands.

Yeah a shame really - the excitement and anticipation leading up the release was thrilling, yet the product itself simply doesn't have the staying power to make a lasting impression.
It was a case of the thrill being in the chase, or the journey and not the final destination. Crosseyed Heart is the opposite - it's the gift that keeps on giving.

Looking forward and hoping for a new album of originals! Even if it's subpar, at least it will be something that's never been heard before,
and should be fun to discuss and dissect in the same way Crosseyed Heart was when released.

We appreciate your insight. However please keep in mind the phrase 'in the can' means something is 'a wrap' for the most part ..= <basically finished> .. 'In the bag' is another way of saying 'In the can' .. which means the same thing, really.

Possibly you mean a 'work in progress'... not 'in the can'. Jus sayin

I've done the maths.
To keep up to my garden,I have to set aside about 3 hours a week.
However, if I got some help (eg from two children)it could be done in one hour.

Keith's solo effort took 3 years.
So, the Stones album should take about a year....ie be done and dusted by now.

It'll come out before the tour. Just asked the high frequency gypsy in the hood. Hard to make out the words sometimes, a lot of mumbling, drooling, spit and fire...seemed pretty sure about it tho.
That's my story and I'm stickin' to it...

To be fair I was in the pit for AUD$580, (without all the early entry package VIP stuff), but yes, the stands were the same price. Prices would only go up next time round just as they have in Europe between 14 and 17, (gone up massively in fact), but I'm not sure why people are so sure they'll do Australasia again anyway other than some sort of sequencing logic. But in fact they haven't done New York or London for many years and may just choose to say goodbye that way, who knows?
