Of course I'm looking forward to it but I'm always amazed by how much people here are yearning for it.

What part about Rolling Stones fans being excited for a new album by the Rolling Stones on a forum about the Rolling Stones amazes you? What parts of that equation do you need assistance with?

I'm looking forward to it too, no question! But since they didn't release anything during the last thirty years that could keep up with the music they did when they were young I'm amazed how much people are expecting from the album.
For me it's a nice bonus if it comes out.

But I don't want to kill anybody's anticipation winking smiley

You mean: you think so? I grew up with SW VL BTB and I love it. I also love the early stuff and I am glad it all sounds different. People evolve and so do the Stones.

Yep. I love Too Tight, Rough Justice and Terrifying as much as I love Casino Boogie, Under My Thumb and Sway. It's all expectationally great music to me. More of that? Yes please.

Rough Justice is a phenomenal modern-day song. Sleazy and rough sounding...like a modern take on the Exile vibe. I remember hearing it for the first time on the radio, and I was like, Holy Hell this sounds amazing!!!!

I also love some single modern day songs (love Saint of me, laugh I nearly died, almost hear you sigh and others) - still when it comes to albums I think the majority here would agree than none of their latter-day albums can keep up with Exile, Sticky Fingers, LIB, Beggars Banquet, Some Girls...

I even guess they would agree on that themselves...

Again - I don't want to kill anybody's anticipation here. I admire that dedication.

The anticipation for the long awaited new album has been fueled by Keith and the band yapping about it for almost a decade now.
Even the press has pressed them on the issue, with some interviewers expressing frustration with the lack of productivity regarding the bands latter day output.
It was just a couple years ago when Keith was asked about a new album, and he basically dodged the question by mumbling off a convoluted/confused mish-mash of an answer.
Might have been better had they said nothing and released it when it was finished, rather than having a boy who cried wolf scenario misleading and stringing along the fans along for years.
As the sayings goes, action speaks louder than words. In other words, talk is cheap. Maybe this year the proof will be in the pudding, but I'm hesitant to celebrate until I actually see and hear it.

I love the Stones for life but there are so many talented young artists who will release new music this year that is so much more thrilling to me than a new Stones album.

Of course I'm looking forward to it but I'm always amazed by how much people here are yearning for it.

Who are these”talented young artists”?
I can take the time and make a list if that is of real interest. Depends also on your music taste.

How about one top quality “tune” from three artists?

I haven’t heard anything really good from new people since Amy Winehouse died but I don’t listen to modern “music” much because so much of it stinks in my opinion.
BTW, if you are thinking of including Ed Sheeran, please don’t bother at all!

Don't knock Ed Sheeran...he could be one of the many surprise guests on the new album!!!

This is why I was asking if you're really interested.

This is such an ignorant, generalized view that I won't recommend any recent music since I can't do anything right in this case.

Some people just don't want to know anything new. They continue to cling to the music they heard in their youth and are resistant to anything new, no matter how good it is.

In all seriousness, with all the vault digging they’ve been doing the last 13 years, it’d be stupid to not be “inspired” (read: Use the old stuff) by that for a new album. There might be one or two killer riffs somewhere that the public never got to hear, and is non existent on any bootleg. If I had that chance, I’d absolutely take it, IF it’s up to par of course.

Good point, in spite of the ton of material that's been leaked over the years and most recently with FFSO there's still (good) stuff we know exists and has never been properly leaked, let alone released. Case in point the rather lovely "English Rose" that was played back from the RSM when they were working in Rotterdam in early 1975. How the heck has that never been used in one form or another ?! And that means of course there must be other songs pre-2005 we have now idea exist.

I reckon it will be a decent album. Unfortunately the mastering will be absolute crap.

No. Stuff made like some spoiled kid who cries out loud since he has not got a new toy. In the case of Hairball everyone knows that if the toy is given some day it is used a few hours and the crying for the next toy to entertain him will start.

Sometimes it funny to see grown up people to behave like spoiled kids. The idiocy and hybris of a fanhood I guess. Thinking like Keith Richards is their personal bitch to please their wishes. If not, it is 'frustrating'.

Honestly, it is not. Keith or anyone of them do not own anyone anything. The album will be released when they feel like it is ready to go. If not, that's their choice, and no one else's, as well. It's their thing, not ours. If they feel like the result is not good enough for their standard, that's it. It is not the end of the world. "But him and him said this and that". Oh, c'mon... Get a life, for god's sakes...

Yes...Don't Hold Your Breath....I remember that...gotta give him credit for being honest. thumbs up
Hopefully it's not the title of the new album, but it could be a good title for an original new tune?
Nearly two decades and counting...this could finally be the year to celebrate?!!! Still not holding my breath though...
Wondering who will be the next Stone to chime in on the saga...Keith? Mick? Ronnie? GRRR...........

Hopefully after all these years of leading the fans astray while testing their patience, maybe they're about to complete the supposed new album?!!
Or will it remain a work in progress in to 2024?!!! Hopefully we'll learn more soon...they gotta getta grip on it...and we need to have patience...thumbs up

All I read on here lately is Doom & Gloom for the new album. Let’s let the boys give it One More Shot to get it done.
