While I can appreciate that SG was a monumental album for the time, and MY a major disco-infused hit, I've come to view it as just not holding up well overtime, and I rarely play it these days. For me, it's become highly overrated, as I've stated previously. Both IORR and ER for me are just utter crap, regardless of the time. By 1980 there were so many other bands out there with bluesy/rock styles, and the Stones, I don't know what the heck they were thinking. Let Me Go is great - one of my all-time favorites. Obviously She's So Cold is great, too, but really this is quite possibly the album that I listen to the least out of all of their albums. I don't like that Pastiche period at all. Don't get the love that Undercover gets vs. DW, but hey to each their own. While IORR has some decent songs - Dance Little Sister, Till the Next Goodbye, and Time Waits for No One - in reality, this album is such a colossal disappointment compared to everything that came before it. I"m not saying any ONE view is right or wrong, just that for me, I don't dig most of what was listed there, and B&B is actually probably one of my Top 10 albums of theirs, but most here seem to not like it much, but then most also don't like Voodoo either, so hey, what can I say?!?!!?
And for the record, I don't think I was criticizing him - other than his voice. I was just offering my critiques of his various albums. There's enough music out there for each of us to enjoy - that's the beauty of this big blue rock. But at the same time, I dived deep into something that I'd never done before and had wanted to share with others.
Interesting if this implies the song is an MJ solo track rather than one the band has worked on collectively. I do hope it's released as the latter, as there would be a better chance of seeing it released sooner than later (I haven't heard that Jagger is preparing another solo album, is he)?
I do wonder, why you apparently think about some years in the Rolling Stones studio output by the term Pastiche period. Especially as you, in addition, use rather harsh words towards two albums in particular. By how I understand the concept, it makes me wonder whether you are opposed to the continued experience from those now distant past years that the Stones, also after their most artistic period, still tried to expand the limits for what Rolling Stones music might comprise. During those years maybe in harmony between their song writers. You are so against the results that two mentionned albums are not only "crap", but even "utter crap".Your user name taken from an album not so forward looking, when the Stones instead seemed to need to refind their feet, somehow may confirm my wonder. Since this is a new Stones album thread, I find it absolutely relevant and necessary to mention this: while I dig your attitude to explore new waters, VoodooLounge13, I think that of not liking Dylan's voice sounds like an obstacle making it impossible to ever really like his albums. It is so central part of his music. I mean, if one doesn't like the voice of Elvis I don't think his albums will ever sound that good. Or the same with Jagger's voice or, say, Keith Richards guitar playing. If one doesn't like them, can one ever really like the music of Rolling Stones?

Obviously She's So Cold is great, too, but really this is quite possibly the album that I listen to the least out of all of their albums. I don't like that Pastiche period at all. Don't get the love that Undercover gets vs. DW, but hey to each their own. While IORR has some decent songs - Dance Little Sister, Till the Next Goodbye, and Time Waits for No One - in reality, this album is such a colossal disappointment compared to everything that came before it. Easily the weakest of everything that Mick T was involved in. At least that's how I see it all.
I do wonder, why you apparently think about some years in the Rolling Stones studio output by the term Pastiche period. Especially as you, in addition, use rather harsh words towards two albums in particular. By how I understand the concept, it makes me wonder whether you are opposed to the continued experience from those now distant past years that the Stones, also after their most artistic period, still tried to expand the limits for what Rolling Stones music might comprise. During those years maybe in harmony between their song writers. You are so against the results that two mentionned albums are not only "crap", but even "utter crap".Your user name taken from an album not so forward looking, when the Stones instead seemed to need to refind their feet, somehow may confirm my wonder. Is that a fair question?

One has to come to terms beyond being a fan and take the critical aspects for real. Hence, IT'S ONLY ROCK'N'ROLL, SOME GIRLS and EMOTIONAL RESCUE are fantastic albums as well.
Look beyond what you think. Look at the time(s) of each LP.
EXILE got slagged, for example.
While I can appreciate that SG was a monumental album for the time, and MY a major disco-infused hit, I've come to view it as just not holding up well overtime, and I rarely play it these days. For me, it's become highly overrated, as I've stated previously. Both IORR and ER for me are just utter crap, regardless of the time. By 1980 there were so many other bands out there with bluesy/rock styles, and the Stones, I don't know what the heck they were thinking. Let Me Go is great - one of my all-time favorites. Well, hopefully for you, time will help you understand your dislike being misplaced for SG "not holding up well", which is complete bullshit (do you like DARK SIDE OF THE MOON or LED ZEPPELIN 2?); IORR and ER being "utter crap", which is mystifying, as well as coming to an understanding that U is a way better album than DW.
You have some circumstancing to do yet.
You're really missing out on some fantastic music.

I don't like Dark Side, GSL. I've said as much before. Floyd is one that I just seem to miss the boat on. There was some albums that I like, but overall, I just can't get into them. And that's OK, man. Many here don't like Bon Jovi, and I love them, so.....
Zep.....IV is one of my all-time favorite albums - 4th all-time actually, right behind Voodoo Lounge. As for the rest of Zep, once upon a time, I made 2 CDs of my favorite Zep songs aside from IV. That's about all one needs of them IMHO. A little of them goes a long way for me. An even smaller amount of The Doors goes an even farther way.
It's all just any of ours opinions, bro. ER, IORR I rarely listen to. And I listen to DW faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar more than I do U. I'm happy that they didn't continue down this road, which I see more of a Mick influence, one that is a more current sound. For me, by that point, they'd drifted far away from their Blues and Rock roots, and hence the reason why I don't often listen to them. The songs on IORR are weaker than all that had come prior from 68 forward.
