Could be in the US, too. The 2019 tour was projected to start in April, and the 2020 tour in May. Just sayin'.

Hell, early June still counts as "spring" for those weird Americans! winking smiley (In Finland, mid-June is "midsummer", go figure.)

LOL only to Americans that think the June solstice is the "official" start of summer.

Summer in the NH starts, meteorologically, June 1, the same time winter starts in the SH.

When I became a Stones fan in 1980 after hearing "She's So Cold" on am radio, 18 years already as a band, and considered at that time 'dinosaurs', I could not fathom that I'd be a fan 42 years later of a band that 60 years on was planning a new album and tour the year AFTER their diamond anniversary.

What a journey.

It's incredible when you think about it.

(And people still bitch about setlists)

i'd imagine if it's a world tour us dates will happen eventually (jazzfest?) but me thinks rockman deserves a show on his home soil sooner rather then later

and doesn't it make more sense if they start in spring (not june) that australia or japan be a more likley starting point?

now the real question is what country will they rehearse in and when rehearsals will begin?

I just added this to the first post of this thread:

IORR Editor update 21-Oct-2022:
The new Rolling Stones studio album is now in the final works, currently being mixed in Los Angeles, following recent works in New York. The release is expected to be in sync with a new tour starting during the spring of 2023.

And what is the source? Just because BV says so?...

Orion, you made similar precise statements here without mentioning any source. Why do you always show this agressive behavior?

You misunderstood. Just asking the source that's it.
I can tell you my source in private message if you need it.

I have been running IORR since 1980, I have spent 43 years now dedicating my life to The Rolling Stones and the Fan Club It's Only Rock'n'Roll, and before that I spent all my time from 1971 on The Rolling Stones as well.

It is rude and offending to ask for sources, just like it is rude to ask about the color of anyone's underwear, or what someone had for breakfast. Just having the freedom to post on IORR does not mean you have the right to offend.

Xmas 2022 launch of the New album

No, the time is too short for a Xmas 2022 release when they do the album-mixing in LA in the upcoming weeks. Spring 2023 is more realistic.

And isn't there a backlog with vinyl pressing as well? I think UrbanSteel pointed that out.

The Vinyl delay - [www.NME.com] , [Variety.com] , [www.CentralTrack.com] . But in my opinion Universal Music seems to have better access to the manufacturing capacities than Warner or Sony. So no worry for the new Stones-album.

They might have booked pressing plant time a long time ago. So when it's fully finished maybe it can be pressed quickly.

Yes, that's what major labels do (especially Universal) - they book manufacturing slots in advance and decide later which high-profile releases will fill those slots. It's described in the linked article by Variety.

They can release a couple of singles to build the hype, a new song in December, another one in March and another single with the album release date in May/June.

That's a good marketing idea because once the album is released all the hype will be gone after 2 weeks, so the release of 3 songs in advance is the way to go.

They could release the best songs ever but they won’t get airplay unfortunately on top 40 stations.

Yep, hence the recent question about a new Single - [iorr.org] . It also would fit well as a Xmas gift ....
