I think it‘s hard anyway to think strategically about releasing music these days. There is just so much good music and talent around and the habits and attitudes of listeners have changed. A song from 10, 20, 30 years back can suddenly become a hit. Young people listen to a R‘n‘B artist one minute, the next there‘s 90‘s techno or 80‘s synth wave like Kate Bush. And that‘s a good thing: There‘s no stupid rules like you can‘t listen to Disco if you‘re into rock anymore and no childish discussions about what real music is…
So when you release an album you‘ve just got to make sure that it’s good and that it moves people and makes people move and the then reception will get its own dynamic…

Is your Kate Bush reference regarding it featuring in the ‘Stranger Things’ show? I understand it climbed to #1 on the U.K. chart. Part of me thinks it's dumb. The generation Z crowd who took it back to the top have probably lost interest in her music already! I feel like popular music has no meaning or identity anymore. Yes, the freedom to listen to whatever, and however, you like is a convenient thing, but it all seems so disposable.

Probably not much different than 'Rock Around The Clock' returning to the charts after the TV Show "Happy Days" premiered in the early 70s (it was the shows theme song originallY). I remember people loving that tune, but it didn't make you go out and research more Bill Haley.

Hi all...My apologies if this has already been posted. Probably nothing new.

NEW YORK (CelebrityAccess) – Will The Rolling Stones finally release a new album of original music in 2023? According to multiple reports by American Songwriter and UK paper, The Sun, an unnamed source has confirmed that the band intends to release their first new album of original material in 18 years next summer. This will be the first album of original songs since The Bigger Bang, released in 2005, and the first without founding drummer Charlie Watts, who passed in 2021.

According to reports, Stones members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood took part in recording sessions the past two weeks at NYC’s Electric Lady Studios. The report claims that they worked with “a raft of world-class session musicians” as well as longtime Stones touring bassist Darryl Jones and drummer Steve Jordan, who joined the iconic group on tour after the death of Watts.

The Sun also reports that the source says Mick and Co. will likely launch a major tour following the album’s release, including shows in the US, South America, and Europe. In March, Richards revealed in an interview with CBS Sunday Morning that he, Jagger, and Jordan had been writing new songs together.

The band was recently featured in the Epix documentary series, My Life as a Rolling Stone, which featured individual episodes on Jagger, Richards, Watts, and Woods. A documentary on Rolling Stones bassist Darryl Jones, Darryl Jones: In The Blood, directed by Eric Hamburg and featuring one of Watts’ final interviews, was recently released. “Jones joined the band after founding bassist Bill Wyman left in 1992.

To be fair, Ronnie did not mention anything about the release date/timeframe.

Ronnie's interview and The Sun's article were two different things. The Sun's story was published first.

I hope I'm posting this question in the right thread, since it has to do with the album & tour. Since the album is supposed to come out next summer, do you all think the tour will happen then rather than early 2023 (Jan, Feb, Mar) as everyone was guessing before the announcement of the album release?

Maybe this question should have been posted in the tour thread. My apologies....

That would depend on where they tour. Jan-Mar would only be suitable for big outdoor venues in the Southern hemisphere.

Everyone knows that the Southern hemisphere is 6 months behind the Northern hemisphere.

Or...

Although calendar wise the SH is ahead since December 1 is the beginning of summer in the SH, which carries over into the next year. The SH starts and ends the calendar year in summer! That's great! So... they're 6 months ahead.

My apologies to all Southern Hemisphere people!

Yes indeed excellent news. And I know I'm asking for a lot but I hope this inspires them to keep releasing new material, albums or even just singles over the next few years. Just great to hear.
