I'd say 2020 Man would be a nice new song title. At least it would mean they'd have to release it this year.

I don't thing Man is still very woke in 2020.. let's make it 2020 Person

Or, a cover of No Person No Cry, sounds great, not to mention Alice's Only Persons Bleed smiling smiley

Honky Tonk Wombyn

Hey, that'll be fun news: The Stones going PC! You hear that, Alternative Nation?

Gold Coast slave ship bound for cotton fields
Sold in the market down in New Orleans
Scarred old slaver knows he's doin' all right
Hear him whip the women just around midnight
Brown Sugar, how come you taste so good
Brown Sugar, just like a young girl should

I'd like to see Mick go PC after that!

The 21st century version, adapted to present-day phraseology, might go something like this:

Ghana coast forced unpaid migrant labourer ship bound for cotton-processing sites
Assigned employment via the labour recruitment centre down in New Orleans
Dermatologically challenged elderly manpower procurement officer knows he lives up to his capabilities
Experience him engaging in female-workforce-targeted motivational training routines past regular office hours ...

Jimmy Buffett, 73 years old, is recording a new album in Key West.

In fact, he's released 4 studio LPs, one anthology and 5 live albums since, well, A BIGGER BANG came out.

He ain't no butcher cuttin' up meat.

"Hell, we all want to be Keith Richards every once in a while."

Outputwise it seems safer to do albums while not being Keith ... winking smiley

Try 1971. The last time he actually sang that line in concert.

Right, he sings "you shoulda heard him just around midnight" here. Any reason known why Mick changed the line? Hard to believe it was out of remorse or for fear of being given a bad rep.

There's a print interview with Mick somewhere in the last 30 years where he allegedly said he wished he had censored himself when he wrote it.

Perhaps the reaction of Marsha Hunt or Claudia Lennear to it when it was released?

Buffett was in Cuba when the Stones played - he was backstage... or sidestage. He was there, I know that. That must've been something else for him to experience - in Cuba, seeing a big band, of all bands, The Rolling Stones, from the side of the stage.

Keith knows Jimmy Buffet since they both have homes on Parrot Cay in T&C. Buffet has more money than Mick and Keith combined, mostly from his non-musical enterprises: beer, alcohol, restaurants, etc. And his music mostly sucks.

That might also explain why we've never heard Some Girls played live recently.

'Some Girls' was last played live in 2015 (Atlanta, Bobby-Dodd-Stadium, 9-Jun-2015) - [iorr.org] .

Right. "Some Girls" wasn't played live until 1999. If Mick actually said what was attributed to him, it was either his mood of the day, he was amusing himself by putting on the interviewer, or he's completely inconsistent when it comes to the lyrics he writes and/or sings.

It was featured in the Shine A Light Movie. Apparently the Clintons requested Mick to leave out a few lines, which he did. A far cry from Jim Morrison, who absolutely did NOT, in his day.

I know it was played at the Beacon, but that was seven years after NO SECURITY.

I seriously doubt it was the Clintons' request. This is the guy who ad-libbed, "Hillary Clinton, give me a blow job" at Webster Hall in 1993. Besides, he censored it a bit in 1999 making it white girls who are insatiable.

Garrett Morris had the best response to Mick re: "Some Girls" on SNL in 1979, "Where are they at? You got any phone numbers for me?"

I didn't mean to say that you didn't know. I knew it too, imagine.
As far as Clinton goes, I only mentioned what was said when the movie came out.

Sorry, I tend to think chronologically. My anorak qualities meant that I misread your response and thought you were correcting me when it was first played live.

I know a little about Jimmy (I've met part of his family) and a little about Keith and... Jimmy doesn't have a home on Parrot Cay. Jimmy does have a place in Key West.

Yeah it was played in Atlanta 2015 and while it was a nice raw version, it totally left out of those lines. Nobody, white or black wanted to get @#$%& all night. Kind of ruined an otherwise great live version for me. So yeah Mick definitely censored himself there
