From Ronnie's interview with Steven Bellery of RTLFrance, posted November 12:

"The new @RollingStones album is advanced. It still looks a bit like a puzzle; we are in full construction. We hesitate on the forms to give each song. And as they are new tracks, it takes a little more time. We hope to release it next year ... "

Unless my college French is betraying me, the album isn't "advanced." A better translation would be that the album is moving forward ... which is more in line with the spirit of the rest of the quote.

And if they really are still hesitant about the forms to give each song then oh my god we are really looking at a posthumous release!

An advanced puzzle under full construction with hesitation and hope.

Full of oxymorons, but at least there's something to think about!
Tell us more Ronnie! smiling smiley

From Ronnie's interview for AZCentral:

Q: Do you see you guys doing another album of original material at some point?

A: Yeah, we’ve been hacking songs into shape. I’m gonna go off to Paris and see Mick next week and see what his latest thoughts are after he’s got together with Keith. It’s an ongoing thing of comparing what is on the cooker at the moment and some ideas we’ve had for years that we may embellish upon. It’s quite interesting building this new album. You can’t say there’s a title for it. The tracks haven’t actually been chosen yet.

Q: Do you think diving back into your roots will have an impact on this new one?

A: It was an incredibly successful album and incredibly enjoyable to make. So we’ll take some of that into the studio with this new originals album.

Another Interesting Interview from 1 year ago. I hope they can release the new album in 2020

Does he possibly mean the music is 'advanced' .. (somehow) ?

Anyway he says they are still very much working on it.. I'll take that.

Aware that I am in a minority of very few on this forum, I still appreciated the two songs in their released maxi single format as more interesting and attractive than the third studio album by his vetoing band collegue.

Good for you! For me, both songs were on par with Let's Work and Charmed Life, unfortunately. But I bought the 45" vinyl...

I can think of some of Jagger's as well as Richards' solo songs that I actually dislike more than the four songs mentioned here.

Might well be, but we're still in the bottom of the barrel here winking smiley

That depends on the number of songs smiling smiley

Come on! smiling smiley

They've already released that one

It's just been completely bogged down by indecisiveness .

If somebody said , "right all the tapes are going to self destruct in a fortnight if you don't finish them" ...or "have the album out next month or we'll send you all to prison"...

...It'd be in the shops for Christmas. grinning smiley

By now, they'll have to bake the tapes from the initial sessions in an oven first to be able to use them, so...

In French it says "Avance". It means the work on the album progresses.
The translation "advanced" is wrong IMHO.

after 390 pages whats is the consensus of the IORR minds?
Yes, they will put out one more album of originals?
Or, no - won't happen?

Sure it'll be released some day.
Let's just hope it'll not be a posthumous release.

From Ronnie's interview with Gijsbert Kamer, published in de Volkskrant, November 12:

"I thought we had done a nice general rehearsal there in Wimborne, but when Don Was heard the recordings, he almost begged to release this immediately on record." record producer, and in that position associated with the Rolling Stones. The contact that Wood had with him about Mad Lad suggests that the Stones also come up with something new. Wood: "Yes, we are busy. I can't say much about it from the boys, but every now and then we record something together. It's like a jigsaw puzzle. First you do the edges and the corners. We now have that. Now the rest. "Sometime next year the album must be ready because, as Wood says," a new tour is also on the horizon ".

How does that actually work, the company that is the Rolling Stones? Who determines what should happen when? Wood: "Mick always calls. The relationship between Mick and Keith is strange, but in the end Keith does what Mick wants, and together they still write beautiful songs, I think. Charlie (Watts) and I usually order. "

"...but in the end Keith does what Mick wants"

Getta Grip Ronnie! This simply not true as evidenced by Getta Grip!

"It's like a jigsaw puzzle. First you do the edges and the corners. We now have that. Now the rest".

The edges and corners are the easy part as everybody knows!
Maybe a couple of key middle pieces have been misplaced which is always frustrating when trying to complete a puzzle!

"Sometime next year the album must be ready because, as Wood says," a new tour is also on the horizon ".

Great to hear confirmation of the tour from one of the horses' mouths, but having a tour scheduled has never been a guarantee for a new album, and you can't force the issue with a deadline!
Hopefully they take their sweet time (lol) and finish it properly - it might be worth the wait!

Is Ronnie reffering to Don Was wanting to release the material immediately or is that for something else? We don't need another Bigger Bang. We have waited this long, might as well wait for a solid album.

Maybe it's the approaching holidays, but my xmas wish would be the announcement of a spring album release and another summer U.S. tour.

I suppose my additional wish of a xmas 2019 release of Atlantic City '89 is shot, since we'd probably know that by now.

Meanwhile, I must say...I harbor no ill will or "wtf" sentiment toward the band for not releasing an original album in so many years. If they never release another album I'm alright. If they do, I'll be excited..but if they don't, they don't.

The thing is (for me anyway), putting something out because "it's been so long" is not a good reason to put something out. If things aren't coming together the way they would like, I'd rather they didn't do it anyway. If I'm in their shoes, I certainly wouldn't. If the muse isn't there, I'd hesitate to dilute my discography just to have product out there. That said, some of the teases we've heard ("just wanna tell the truth", etc.) sounded pretty promising, so it seems that the muse is indeed there, if only on a few tracks.

Yes, yes...I know. It's only rock and roll, but I really like it.

Of course there will be one more album of originals! They wouldn't be talking about it if it wasn't going to happen. Sure, there have been plenty of other older groups who have put out albums in recent years without any issue, but people need to remember this is still "The Rolling Stones" we're talking about here. They're still looked at highly to put out quality material, even if it has been very few far and in between since 1989.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're working on this album knowing it will be their last. With that in mind, like Don Was stated recently, they want to make sure it's a GREAT album. If they want to take their sweet ass time to make sure this album is not just a throwaway after all these years without an album of originals, than by all means. I've said it before and I'll say it again, 2020 feels like the year it'll come out, but I'm not holding my breath on it.

This is how I believe the next year will play out:

Work on the new album next month, December 2019 or early 2020 for a few weeks.
Another tour in mid-2020.
Mixing and Overdubbing for the new album Summer 2020.
New album out in late 2020 - early 2021.

Original title of this thread:
Another album in 2017 ?

Hi all !
There was talk of another album of original songs being published in 2017. Is there any credible news?

IORR Editor update Oct-2018:
The new album have taken some time, but they aim at finishing it hopefully for the upcoming Nort America tour 2019.

IORR Editor update Mar-2019:
Keith Richards in MOJO magazine April edition interview:
"We're in the studio in a couple of weeks, the whole kit and caboodle. The Stones with Don Was producing, in LA. We'll have it done this year, at some point."

...and after that, there will be some quarrels, that'll lead to another X-pensive Winos tour, while Jagger's making movies and do shows in the far east. And just when everybody thought it was over;
Rolling Stones make a comeback in 2028, topping the hitlists and touring worldwide - the press can't praise them enough, and who could've guessed they'd bring back Jim Price and Mick Taylor this time around !
- then it's back to the studio and start rehearsing for the 2033/34 trip

If they haven't chosen the tracks, they are further behind that I thought.
I thought they were stymied by the mixes or the overdubs on existing tracks.

hey once they're done hesitating on the forms of the new songs im sure the new album will be right around the corner, or at least the edges and corner pieces of a new album perhaps not the gooey chocolate center

Well you know .. after four years they have the edges and the corners finished ..
now the center .. should only be about six or eight years folks .. ....

By the way ..he says the album is basically a 'work in progress' .. Gee ..
I might be crazy .. but that notion sounds sort of familiar .. grinning smiley

In seriousness the only worth wild chunk here is that a new tour is on the horizon and there is a premise that a new album is to coincide with it (next year ...thank GOOODNESS!).
