Is he actually playing?
Perhaps Keith will now come up with a reposte on his site!

Why does it say new "songs", it's only one song.

Why can't that be Charlie on drums?

Some might recall when Mick and Matt did their Paris session with Carl Falk, they were working on a bluesy number.

It sounds terrific to me.

It doesn't much matter if it's Charlie on it or not, by the time it's finished it will be.

What a great clip!!! He looks and sounds best when he's playing harmonica, IMO. And what a great sound! Wonder which plug - in is he using to get it, or maybe the harmonica was plugged to an amplifier? My bet is that he's working on a demo for the prospective new Stones' album. That's just about time!

+1

Fantastic!!

Because it's not Charlie's style of playing

IMO it sounds a good bit like Charlie on drums. But it could just be a work-out clip thrown together for him to work out on harp. I actually double checked the key, because I thought it might be a live version of 'Rambler". But it's in E, and MR is in B.
It's too bad that by now it is plainly only Mick Jagger with the gas left in the tank. It's a LOT of gasoline, but you still need others to make it a Stones album. If we only would get one clip like this, with Keith added with a guitar, a Stones album would be close.

Nice - let's hope this is for the new Stones album, and by the sounds of it Keith should hopefully approve!

"Mick is one of the best natural blues harp players I've ever heard. His harp playing is the one place where you don't hear any calculation. I say, 'Why don't you sing like that?' " - Keith from Life

Billboard has already picked up on the story:

Mick Jagger Tears it Up on Harmonica in 'New Tunes' Tease:

Mick

Mick Jagger uploaded a video of him tearing it up on the harmonica in the studio on Tuesday (Sept. 4), providing fresh hope for Rolling Stones fans that new music is coming. The video, which features Jagger wailing on bluesy jam on harmonica in what appears to be a home studio is captioned "new tunes" and also shows a computer with recording software open as he plays.

The teaser sparked further speculation that Jagger and the Stones are in the process of working on a follow-up to the band's 2016 covers collection, Blue & Lonesome. A new Stones album will mark the band's first disc of original material in 13 years.

In 2017, Stones guitarist Keith Richards held an "Ask Keith Richards" YouTube segment, where he was asked by a fan if he was inspired to get back in the studio with the Stones to begin recording, to which Richard replied "Yes, yes, we are -- very, very shortly."

Sounds great! Surely not Charlie drumming. Sounds very much like a programmed loop.

Mick is certainly into it. Sounds like it is in a direction of a warped, catchy, Midnight Rambler type of feel. Remember .. it could be far from finished is my guess. It could change.. and the mix can have loads to do with how it comes across.

May not be from a song they pick .. It may not make the cut... it could be a warm up? So let's not count on it.

However Guess what we can count on boys & girls? .. Mick Jagger is creating new music in his house. I'm sure there will be more on this story to follow at some point down the road.

So true. Here's hoping that (a) this makes the final cut and (b) the mix is nice and balanced, like "Blue and Lonesome", not "A Bigger Bang"!
