No, you couldn't actually.

In those days, they did the USA first. That was the Tattoo You tour (U.S. 1981), just like they did it in '72.

STILL LIFE was released prior to the 1982 tour. So, yes you could argue that they toured on a live album. Of course they were touring TATTOO YOU but STILL LIFE was released one day before the European tour started. And, unlike the 1981 US tour that didn't feature anything from TATTOO YOU (other than, at least from what I can find, the San Francisco show), they used imagery from STILL LIFE to promote the tour.

Don’t you forget my Philadelphia ‘Tops’ 1981!

Here’s a new song from our album called ‘Tops’”

I'm pretty sure Gaslight is referring to imagery from Tattoo You for the 1981 US tour (specific to San Francisco - tickets, promotion, etc).
Songs from Tattoo You played at L.A. Coliseum, 1981

(Both Oct. 9 and 11)

Black Limousine
Waiting on a Friend
Little T&A
Hang Fire
Start Me Up

Jesus now when I come for information on new stones I have to read about Ringo's solo career?

It's all connected. There's also a thread about KISS. Soon, we will discuss the Spice Girls too.

Hands down this is the best thread ever......thumbs upthumbs up. If only Ringo opened for the a Stones this summer

Backed by his new All Starr Band: thumbs up

Coming to think of it: didn't Keith and Paul McCartney record some songs in Keith's house in Jamaica. Any news on that?

Ok i owe the board an apology. I mentioned ringo as a total freaking joke just because someone mentioned john paul and george. I had no idea anyone would seriously discuss ringo's solo career

Don't apologize, you deserve a medal for that. It's the best thing that could have happened to this thread. I was the one who brought up the Beatles (who were wise to split up when it didn't work anymore) but I completely forgot about Ringo.

"A song Richards apparently was proud of because “the lyrics were pinned to my wall for many weeks”. But until today, the track has never been released.
The collaboration came spontaneously when McCartney was on vacation in the Caribbean Turks and Caicos Islands in January 2005.
As far as it is known, they only have written the song, not recorded it. But a few years ago Richards insisted he still intends to do so one day:".

Thanks for the info. It's such an interesting, and slightly odd, combination: Keith and Paul, it really makes you wonder what they ended up with.

We drifted off topic one too many times, the focus is the new tour, and there will be a pinned thread when B.V. starts an official album news thread at a later date.
That's my answer to why we're not pinned.

It'd be a very weak argument. They were going to tour Europe on the back of the US Tour whether they released a live album or not.

How do you tour behind a live album anyway? Do you introduce a song as 'this is from our latest live record' or something?

André Homan needs some geography lessons, since the T&C are not in the Caribbean.

I dunno. Maybe if they did a song that shares the album's name? Yikes - that would mean writing a new song. Nevermind.

Well.... Didn't Tom Waits tour behind Nighthawks At The Diner? It probably wasn't a NATD tour per se, but he DID tour after the release in October, 1975.

That's new material played live in the studio in front of a small audience. Not quite the same as Greatest Hits live at your local stadium or sports arena.
