With Blue & Lonesome being awesome, what are some great blues albums or artists post 1990? Thanks for all the info!

Buddy Guy Sweet Tea is amazing! His latest album isn't too shabby either.

Ahh... An "off-topic" that I truly enjoy...

Note: I am a HUGE fan of "The Blues" and have been playing in blues-based bands since the mid/late 90's. I am not a "purist" in any way whatsoever. Some of the following artists might not be considered "blues artists" as such, but to me, sometimes labels are too restrictive. In my mind, everyone listed below are at least "bluesy", "blues-ish" or, at least, "blues influenced".

Chris Bead
Eric Bibb
Joe Bonamassa & Beth Hart (I like what they do together better than separately. Maybe only partially true for Beth but definitely true for Joe.)
Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise
Deb Callahan
Jon Cleary and The Absolute Monster Gentlemen
Shemekia Copeland
Sean Costello
Daddy Mack Blues Band
Delta Moon
Chris Daniels & The Kings
James Luther Dickinson (the dad of 2 of the North Mississippi Allstars and piano player on "Wild Horses")
Luther Dickinson (see also North Mississippi Allstars)
Dion (yes, of the Belmonts. Has released a couple of acoustic blues albums that I really enjoy)
Terry Evans
The Fins
Ruthie Foster
Terry Garland
JJ Grey & Mofro
Guitar Shorty (been around forever but has many post 1990 albums worth listing to)
John Hammond (also around forever. His 2001 Album "Wicked Grin" where he rearranged 11 Tom Waits songs is on My Desert Island list)
The Holmes Brothers
James Hunter
Samuel James
Cathy Jean
Jubal Kane
Eddie Kirkland (been around forever but some my favorite albums of his come from the 90's and beyond)
Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears
Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials
Eric Lindell
John Lisi
Magic Slim & The Teardrops (again, long career but was still cutting great records into the 90's & 2000's. His 1998 "Black Tornado" is also on my Desert Island list)
Taj Mahal (Around forever. 1997 album "Senor Blues" won a Grammy & is also on my Desert Island list)
Peter Malick
Pat McLaughlin
JD McPherson
Keb' Mo'
North Mississippi Allstars
Anders Osborne
Ana Popovic
John Primer (again, long career, still releasing albums I like)
Paul Rishell and Annie Raines
Roomful of Blues (All their stuff is good. My favorites are the two albums they recorded with Mac Odom as vocalist)
Curtis Salgado
Tedeschi/Trucks
Walter "Wolfman" Washington
Watermelon Slim

That's a pretty good summary of what I consider my favorites & a pretty good start for anyone looking for inspiration. I look forward to using lists that other's post for inspiration to find stuff I'm not all that familiar with (I'll be mining a few off of RockingLonestar's list above, for sure)! New music is so fun!

Peace,
Mr DJA

So many names already mentioned here, so I’ll add two of my (not so recent) new and favorite blues artists:

Kelly Joe Phelps (Goodnight Irene)

Nick Curran (he plays a kind of jump blues and it sounds like it was recorded in the late 40s/early 50s): [www.youtube.com]
