"the US blues chart ranking is rather stunning 14 weeks in...are there no other blues albums being released?"

Treaclefingers, IMO the real question is: What happened on the 11th week, when B and L was #2 and not #1 ?

A new blues album released, probably. But other blues albums are selling very poorly, even compared to what B and L is doing on it's 12th or 14th week.

excellent question...what if it wasn't even a 'new' release, but a catalogue reissue of something that had a one week spike. maybe not even anything new

Hot Rocks back again on the Billboard 200 at #106 with 6,000 units (3,500 sales and 2,500 streaming points).
The album is still on sale at ITunes (7.99)

On album sales only Hot Rocks is #69 and Blue & Lonesome at #92 selling 2,600 copies and 318,500 total so far.

According to Mediatraffic Global Chart, B&L sold 19,000 copies during last week. Totally, 1,755,000.

Outside the current top 10, I see 16 albums having sold more than 19,000 copies and two albums with the same number, exactly. So B&L must be somewhere between #27 and #29 on the particular Global Chart. After so many weeks, still on top 30 worldwide. Amazing performance, I think!

Maybe #27, maybe #28, maybe #29... I don't know how the Chart could classify three albums which, according it, have the same number of sales.

— Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Getaway - No. 104 — A number of titles earn gains on the chart — including offerings from Blake Shelton and Fleetwood Mac — as they profit from sale pricing and promotion in the iTunes Store. The retailer’s All-Time Essential Albums program features discounted albums (for $7.99) and is promoted on the front page of the iTunes Store. Among the charts gainers included in the promotion: Red Hot Chili Peppers’ The Getaway (a re-entry No. 104 with 6,000 units; up 89 percent, and 5,000 in sales; up 154 percent), The Rolling Stones’ Hot Rocks 1964-1971 (re-entering at No. 106 with 6,000 units; up 67 percent, and 3,000 in sales; up 295 percent), the Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack (187-95 with 7,000 units; up 55 percent – all from album sales), Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours (131-88 with 7,000 units; up 29 percent, 4,000 in sales; up 61 percent) and Shelton’s If I’m Honest (100-69 with 8,000 units; up 22 percent, 4,000 in sales; up 36 percent).

The album has sold about the same in both UK and USA.

Hot Rocks is at #160 on Billboard this week with 4,500 units.

Interesting that US -UK Sales are virtually identical, though the States has 3 to 4 times the population.
Not sure if it has always been like that?
