A question for Georgelicks: Are there two albums charts in France? The one I see on Media Traffic (20- 26 January) shows B&L at #16, not at #19 and, according to it, last weeks position was #14. No big deal, of course. Just asking...

There's TWO charts in France, one with sales only and another one with sales + streams points:

On sales only: 2-2-4-6-9-14-16
On sales + streams: 2-3-4-7-12-14-19

Both are official, but SNEP is using the last one as main, with streaming included.

thumbs up

Well....it's 2017... number 19 (with streaming) in France after seven weeks sounds good.

What is SNEP?

So, we have figures from 21 european countries and in 13 of them B&L is still on Top 10. After 1,5 month or even more (7 weeks). In other four countries the album has positions between #10 and #20. Come on, boys, Europe diserves something more than 8-10 gigs during the summer! Why not 12 - 14, like the previous southamerican tour? Even with longer breaks between the concerts.

Europe, are you ready for Rock and Roooolllll ??? It seemes like the answer is a loud "Yeessss"...

So the lowest position right now is in the US, home of blues music, yet the americans are only into rap, hip hop, country pop and soundtracks.

Its impressive to see how rock music is falling there.

Georgelicks wrote: "...yet the americans are only into rap, hip hop, country pop and soundtracks. Its impressive to see how rock music is falling there".

In the recent past (let's say since 2000) several American rock bands had remarkable success in the US market. Bands like Green Day, Linkin Park, Three Doors Down, Black Keys, etc. And I think the last Metallica's album has sold well, there. So, IMO the questions are:

(a) What happens nowadays with rock music there, which is probably different compered to the situation we knew three, five or ten years ago, is a definite or a temporary status? I think we have to wait one or two years, before conclude definitely...

(b) Is it only about the kinds of music or it has, also, to do with some "native/foreign" issue ??. I mean, as I see, Billboard 200 is now an "unwelcoming" enough place for non- American and non - Canadian artists.

Just an example: Last week I took a look at the 100 first albums of Billboard 200. On the Top 20 there was one, one only, act from "outside". And this was Rihanna, born in Barbados, but actually a "child" of the US industry. On Top 100, there only were 12 "foreigners" (artists or bands). Two of them, Bowie and Micheal, just because they recently passed away...

(c) Is it possible that streaming is less popular among people who like rock music in the USA than in other countries? For example, as Georgelicks stated, in France the "results" of "Blue and Lonesome" are similar on the Chart that shows pure sales and on the other one, of sales and streaming points (#16 on the one, #19 on the other). But on Billboard 200 B&L was at # 48, while it reached # 13 in terms of pure album sales...
