No no, I don't think that Germany's return to the No. 1 spot is that special. Christmas is over therefore Helene Fischer is gone and I assume that Freiwild's fanship isn't big enough to block the No. 1 position.

thumbs up

Looking at the chart run in The Netherlands we celebrate X-mas by giving BLUE & LONESOME as a season present.

That's a good suggestion: I know a friend of mine got it for Christmas. I "only" had to wait until St. Nicholas Day.
The Stones for Christmas: You will feel blue and lonesome if you can't always get what you want

New update from Universal: Up to December 29, the album has sold 1.375,000 copies worldwide, Mediatraffic's numbers were 1.305,000 in the same period of time, about 70,000 copies difference or 5,3%.

BLUE & LONESOME sold 1.375.000 copies world wide up to dec. 29, 2016!

In the UK alone BLUE & LONESOME passes EMOTIONAL RESCUE (released 1980: 300.000) in sales and maybe VOODOO LOUNGE (released 1994: 320.000) until now.

Question for Mr GeorgeLicks:

Where can BLUE & LONESOME end up in the All Time World Wide Album Chart ROLLING STONES albums only?

Top 10 maybe...?

On album sales only the album is #13 with 9,300 copies, on sales + streaming (The Billboard 200) is #48 with 10,000 units.

Hot Rocks climbs from #189 to #164 this week on The Billboard 200 with 4,500 units, only 1,200 from sales but over 3,300 streaming points from key tracks as Gimme Shelter (over 350,000 streams last week in the US), Paint It Black (110,000 streams) and SFTD (100,000 streams).

Georgelicks, just a question. Probably a silly question, as I am an old fashioned album seller who only uses Internet for searching, finding sources, sending and receiving e- mails...

Which factors do arrange that streaming points counts for a particular album and not for another? I mean, streaming for Gimme Shelter and SFTD is fortifying Hot Rocks, why not Let It Bleed and Beggar's Banquet ?

Amazing!

But is there any way to know how these results translate in actual $$$$?

Are there any statistics as to how much money did Universal get from sales of B&L (as there are referred to tours) all media considered (hard copy, downloads, streeming, radio, etc)?

Probably nowadays this would be the more fair thermometer of the success of a musical production.

The streaming points are going to the album with better sales on which the song is included, Hot Rocks is a steady seller so all the points are there.

Just take a look at the Billboard 200 and you can see over 50 Greatest Hits/Best Of albums charting, almost none of this albums are on the Top 100-200 sales, but thanks to streaming they are all there.

It makes sense in a way, GS with over 300,000 streams in a single week is getting more exposure than an album selling under 10,000 copies.

Times are changing and album sales are not the main factor to be popular these days.

C

Back in 2005, Virgin got $5 million from ABB US sales of 470,000 by the end of the year, and about $15 million total worldwide from over 2 million albums sold by December 2005, that's without all the digital market from nowadays as streaming, youtube, etc.

So with current's sales of 1,5 million for B&L worldwide we can think on $15-18 million including all the formats: sales, digital, streaming, airplay, videos, etc.

Re: Stones at number One

"So with current's sales of 1,5 million for B&L worldwide..." (GeorgeLicks)

Where will BLUE & LONESOME be with 1,5 million be in the list of all time album sales by The Rolling Stones and where will it end in the future?

I remember SOME GIRLS sold about 8 million through the years into this millenium.

We could do a "TOTAL NUMBERS SOLD CHART LIST WORLDWIDE" of all albums...

1. HOT ROCKS ?
2. .................................

Edit:
Found this on Wikipedia:

LIST OF BEST SELLING MUSIC ARTISTS:

THE ROLLING STONES: 96 million certified units / 200 million claimed sales.

There is no information about sales per album.

The Stones are behind The Beatles, Elvis, M. Jackson, Madonna, E. John, Led Zep and Pink Floyd in this list.

In the same leaque are: AC/DC, C. Dion, M. Carey, Queen, W. Houston and Rhianna.

Thanks for the answer, Georgelicks. I somewhat supposed the explanation is that, but I wasn't sure, of course.
