Greece, third week, # 38 (#4, #3, #38). Same with new Metallica's album, it dropped from #1 to #29. There is explanation, I think: Many new entries, most of them by local artists (or "artists"...), who are very popular here.

On the other hand, on Top 75 of our... strangest album chart you can see "Aftermath" (# 59) for one more week and another one Stones album, as new entry, at # 73. You hardly could imagine which album is this... "England's Newest Hitmaker"!

hmmm...based on 3 albums in the top 75, maybe the Stones are Greece's Newest Hitmakers?

A good one, treaclefingers!... And don't forget, recenlty were on greek Top 75 "Let It Bleed" and "Exile" too. "Exile" got # 2 in 2010.

Sales in Greece are probably 150-200 copies for the #1 album and 10-20 copies for the #75, so you can go 1-29 or 3-38 on the chart from 150 to 50 copies week to week.

Gold in Greece is 3,000 copies sold, not even a blockbuster as Adele's 25 reached that mark after 14 months.

4. Jul "L'Ovni" 21.500
5. Claudio Capéo "Claudio Capéo" 21.200

We're watching sales plummeting after the Christmas season, it will be more obvious during this tracking week with anemic numbers overall for all the acts, yet B&L will sell steady from now on, but the numbers will be down to 50k worldwide in 2 weeks and half of that in a month, if the album remains on sale (as on Itunes this week) the numbers could be a bit better but not more than 10k additional each week.

Did it fall out of the USA top ten?
Doesn't matter. I don't think Bruges or abb lasted more than a week in the us top 10

I knew that sales are dramatically dropped in Greece, but not THAT dramatically, as georgelicks reports. That's one of the effects of the so wild financial crisis, here. And not the most painful effect, from a social point of view, for sure. When B2B came out, there were more than 10 music stores in the center of Athens, now there are two. If I remember correctly B2B had sold over 15,000 copies then, now don't even Alele 's album can reach 3,000...

Anyway, it's nice to see three Stones albums on the same chart, at the same time, as the sales are reduced for all the artists. It's a bit like basketball, you know... Even the score is 51 - 49 instead of 118 - 116, victory remains victory...

Just saw carefully the charts of the Europe (on Media Traficc's page). Their Top 10 are completely different. A big variety, if not a real muddle! These days, "Blue and Lonesome" seems to be one of the fewest interfaces between them.

Just an example, taken from the big European countries - markets. How many albums/acts do have higher positions than "B&L"? No one in Netherlands, 2 in Germany, 4 in UK, 5 in France and 5 in Spain (OK,the Spanish figure is from the third B&L's week, as I see). Totally, 16 acts. But each of them, in just one country. Speaking about these markets, no act oversells the Stones in more than one country.

From a mathematical point of view, this fact could mean that it's possible for "B&L" to get one more high position on the Global Chart. Number 1 for another one week perhaps? I don't know, as we have not figures from USA and Canada, yet. But, as georgelicks said, B&L sells steady. Because sells good almost everywhere.

Is the USA chart missing one week because of happy holydays/X-mas or what it's called? Blue & Lonesome is in the Billboard 200 for four weeks for sure, but we only got a three week 4- 10 - 9 list.

No top 10 in the US, Billboard has an article with the new Top 10 and the album is not on it, full chart will be out tomorrow.

Was Blue & Lonesome released later in the USA instead of dec. 2 ?

In the USA, Hitsdailydouble.com have it at #9 for Sales & #18 for Sales with Streaming. They are usually accurate. If they are it will be #18 on Billboard.

...I wonder if that have more to do with the fact that no one is buying CD's anymore, or if they are they order them from amazon.

Downloading, bad economics, Amazon... I think all of them are a serious effect.

RipThisBone, I have some stuff for you, here...

Fourth week: Canada still #5, Spain # 8, Denmark #13, Australia #4.

Steady sales, indeed.

17 pages do far.
To think at one time it was regarded very unhip to talk about chart positions, sales figures and the like.

Re: Stones at number One
Posted by: georgelicks ()

B&L is #15 on The Billboard 200 with 34.000 units, it has sold 252,000 total after 4 weeks.
On sales only (Top Album Sales) the album is #5, but including streaming and tracks equivalent album is down to #15 on the main chart.

This week the album is expected to be the #2 or #3 best selling album of the week in the US but with very low sales, around 20-25k, it should be around #10 with streaming and TEA inculuded.

Sadly the streaming market is exploding and older acts are affected by this, you can be #1 on the Billboard 200 without selling a single copy, Kanye West did it last year and on 2017 it will be worse.

Re: Stones at number One
Posted by: laertisflash ()
Date: January 4, 2017 22:33

Media Traffic Global Chart: B&L at #3 (fourth week), with 193,000 sales / 1,305, 000 in total. As we know (from Georgelicks), the real numbers are usually bigger 5- 10%.

But it was an "Asia attack" week... Because at #1 and #2 there are two acts from Japan and South Korea. And at #10 another one from South Korea. I suppose all of them unknown (or almost) in Europe, America, Australia, N. Zealand.
