Wow too many to list but some great ones already listed. I will go with
"Dracula 1931" only because it was not already listed. In the same genre
The Haunting, Cat people and Psycho are excellent choices already listed.
Black and white was essential to the power of those films.

Yes, The Bad Seed with Patty McCormick, very creepy. About 30 years ago, we left my young daughters with my parents for the night. They must have been 9 and 7. My dad showed them The Bad Seed! It freaked them out for a while. But . . . He also showed them Paper Moon, which they loved.

1. Twelve angry men. 1957

One of my all time favorites, phenomenal cast even if you don't know the cast names you have seen most of the faces. 98% of the movie takes place in a jury room deciding the fate of a young boy accused of a gruesome murder. They did a awesome job of keeping The tension in the room throughout the entire movie.

2. Lifeboat. Alfred Hitchcock 1943

A little footnote. This movie has the distinction of having the smallest film set ever used The entire movie takes place in the lifeboat.

Also , Alfred Hitchcock made a cameo appearance in almost every one of his movies. Without cheating , how did he accomplish this in a lifeboat in the middle of an open ocean?

3. Raging Bull

The Passion of Joan of Arc

That is, as a "black and white" movie, based on visuals alone.

The question itself is pretty broad. It's like asking what your favorite song with guitar on it is.
