The Stones are discussing more shows next year, and they really do intend to work on that album of originals. "There's about 10 or 12 new songs that Mick actually has been cooking up," says Wood, "and Keith's got the odd one, too." Richards suggests that at least some of the songs might be unfinished compositions that date back 15 years or more.

Sounds like another ABB with practically no writing by Keith...15 years would take us back to the Paris 2002 sessions, interesting as they used very little of them for ABB apparently.

Suggestion: When all else fails, start from scratch.
Or...dig up some forgotten demos, etc. and try to make a diamond out of a turd. It worked for Tattoo You, but is there anything from the past sessions of 15 years that are up to snuff?

you can't tell them what to create. there is no control on your part; you can't control the output with your wishes and demands, its not up to you. the human need to control = ugly destruction. when nature is left alone, it is beautiful. let it roll

I'd like to know your opinion about Ronnie's comment:
“It’s like putting it on top of the strainer and seeing what soaks through by the time you come back to them again. The lumps that are left on top after time has gone by, that’s what you make your dough out of. It wouldn’t surprise me if we recut them all again. It’s one of those things.”
It seems like 'We are not entirely satisfied with these new songs...'.
Does not sound too good at all. But maybe, they want to put an extra effort, to make a GREAT last album.

That doesn't bode well. I hate hear that it is stuff that Mick has been cooking up and keith had a few odd ones.... not writing together, Jagger solo record with a rolling stones backing band. Doom and Gloom?

By the sound of it Ronnie doesn't even pretend to have any ambition to have his stuff included...guess he got the message in 1989, but with Keith more or less drying up you'd think there would have been somewhat of an opening for him.

None of his past stuff has been up to Stones standard, what's changed now?
