Seems as if 2016 will be remembered , as someone published after DB died, as "the end of an age"...

No offense, but I had to check elsewhere since wikipedia is often, well. tampered with.

But it's very sadly true.

I always enjoyed his work-- his piano playing on Bob Dylans 'Watching the River Flow" has always always been a favorite of mine, as well as his playing and band leading on Joe Cockers Mad Dogs & Englishmen. His playing with Delaney and Bonnie was also top shelf---

And did I forget his 1st solo album ? Loved it.

Thanks Leon

No offense to the Stones (cause they wrote the song), but there are many times I've argued this is the definitive version of this song. Just love the interpretation:

Can't say I know any of his records but for some reason that was a bit of a jolt, loved his Jumping jack flash from the Bangladesh benefit show..............that was a real bit of artistry

The heavenly choir awaits you, Mister Russell. It's gonna be one helluva party. Lest we forget, here you are with that Honky Tonk Woman.

Ahhhhh damn...sad smiley ...

Leon was up their with the best of the best - piano player, singer, songwriter, band leader, producer, etc...there will never be another one like him.

My older brother had all his albums when I was growing up, and I clearly remember when Carney came out.
The entire album is a time capsule for me , taking me back to being 9 years old...wow sadness...

Sittin' on a highway in a broken van
Thinkin' of you again
Guess I have to hitchhike to the station
With every step I see your face
Like a mirror looking back at me
Sayin' you're the only one
Making me feel I could survive
I'm so glad to be alive
Nowhere to run and not a guitar to play
Mixed up inside and it's been raining all day
Since you went away...

Manhattan Island Serenade

RIP Leon.

I have tickets to see Leon at a show in January that was originally scheduled for November but was cancelled due to his illness at the Capital Theater in Clearwater Fl. I feel fortunate I was able to see him a few times over the years. We have lost a great one and he will be missed.

Sad news and as so many of you have said, we've lost another of those giants of rock music. Back in the mid 70s when I was a teenager, I had a great poster of Leon in his top hat and long sleeved t shirt with the stars on it.

His work on Mad Dogs and concert for Bangladesh stand out but I have a boot (can't recall the name) of the Mad Dogs tour and that is simply sublime. RIP Leon.

If you really want to be sad...

Bird On The Wire, written by Leonard Cohen, brilliantly performed by Leon with Joe Cocker on vocals:

RIP Leon and many thanks for the great music.

This year has made me realize like never before that I need to get out there and see as many musical greats in concert as I can. For my generation, we are now definitely on the downhill side of things. So no more, "I'll catch them the next time they're in town"--gotta go see everybody now.

I watched for the first time today his induction by Elton John in to the Rock in Roll Hall of Fame. It was very moving and emotional!

RIP Leon! The true space captain and the mater of time and space!
