Your highlights from shows 2012-2016 ?

What are your highlights from the Stones shows since 50 & Counting in 2012?

For me these last years marks a new era for the Stones, with many songs being played slower than before, but at the same time they often sound fantastic.

I really like this version of No Expectations from San Jose 2013:

Street Fighting Man, Kansas City 2015 is the first one that comes to mind, but there are many more

Midnight Rambler with Mick Taylor, Philadelphia, June 2013. Only reason I went to the concert and he knocked it out of the park. Runner up - Emotional Rescue same concert. After years of basically the same set list I got to hear this suprise.

Lowlight? Gwen Stefani messing up lyrics to Wild Horses in LA.

Really? I think any version from 2015 with Ronnie on fire is better and more energetic.

The first O2 show, 25/11/12 if I recall correctly, was incredible. People say the same of the second but I wasn't there. The sense of anticipation that night was incredible - could they still cut it? They exceeded expectations and played a 2.5 hour set that contained a few real rarities. Then there was Brisbane from the pit - by that time it was a standard 19 song set list but still had something rare - Silver Train - and from fourth row stage centre it was like seeing them in a club. So for different reasons they are equal highlights. Hyde Park 1 in between the two of them was pretty bland I'm sorry to say. (Yes, the DVD looks great but that wasn't how it felt that night.)

Philadelphia 2 on 50 & Counting
Kansas City on Zip Code

Two of the highlight shows of the 2012 reboot.

It was breathtaking, imo. It was also Mick Taylor's last european gig with the Stones.

As far as videos... Mick Taylor's first CYHMK I think in Anaheim? In person it was the first Philly show PIB. I don't know why really but the outro was spectacular, I had great seats it just was special for me. Really the whole 4 year period was great, every show I attended I had to pinch myself, seeing Bobby Keys play off into the sunset, really something I will always appreciate, a great, great, great Rolling Stone RIP.

As much as I love Ronnie's playing, those bends at 2:59 are an example of why some people criticize him. grinning smiley

One hell of a run...

Quick one two three =

Watching Mick Taylor playing air guitar behind Charlie's drum riser in Vegas.

Lucky Dip Tongue Pit tickets in Chicago.

'Just My Imagination' from the front row on a gorgeous night in Detroit.

My personal highlight was getting Lucky Dipped into the pit on 50 & Counting to see Mick Taylor on CYHMK. I was totally stoned in more ways than one.

The first time I went to see the Stones was in my hometown 6th July 2013 Hyde park and that night changed my life in a way I could not of imagined.
I have always been into the music of the Stones and many other great artists but for one reason or another I never got to see the Stones before.
I had tickets for both Hyde park shows and I said to myself I will go to the first show and maybe sell my ticket for the second show.
I knew that the Hyde park show would be special for me because my parents were at the Hyde park show in 1969 but when Keith came out and started playing start me up and the place erupted it was like a big electrical charge coming up through my body such a gargantuan high and I knew straight away I would be returning for the second show.
So that first night I watched them has to go down as one of the best moments of my entire life and I have been fortunate enough to since have had many more fantastic nights watching the Stones play in some of the worlds great cities.
Jumping Jack Flash at the first Sao Paolo show blew me away and Midnight Rambler always is outstanding to me but I love every minute they are on stage. To me they really are the worlds greatest ever band and I don't think we will see another like them.
So for the people that complain about them still carrying on and think they should have thrown the towel in just remember there are millions of people who have never been fortunate enough to see them play live and if some of those people get to see them play before it's all over and the stones can give them one of the nights of their lives then that is a great thing.

Nate thumbs up

Best four Stones years of my life...from Newark 2 to Philly twice, to DC, to Nashville, then Pittsburgh. Good times spent with family and friends, making memories to last a lifetime, while enjoying great music. What could be better than that?
Thank you to The Rolling Stones and I hope I get to do it all again soon. <3
