Game 7 drew 40 million viewers, the most in 25 years! I read that an estimated 3 million people were at the parade today, that is huge!

Joe Buck is a dreadful announcer. He offers no real insight to the game. He is no fun. He has a deadpan delivery that is boring, distant and the same no matter if he is saying "its a hit" or "go shop at the mlb store".... pure yaaaawn

I miss AL Michaels, not that Fox will listen or even care what I think.

FB and Twitter were lit up from people telling him to STFU!
Joe Buck has been awful for decades, and no matter how many people despise him, he NEVER goes anywhere. It's remarkable how much hate is hurled his way, and yet he continues to pop up on sports broadcasts all over America.

Could be a case of nepotism. His father, Jack, was a great broadcaster.

I dont recall hearing his Dad, but it may be case of I dont really pay much attention unless it really bad, and I mean bad to the point of detracting from the game. This guy is like a robot, he is the Ben Afflack of announcing. No emotion, no range, no engaging or respecting the viewers, matter of fact dead pan, boring and emotionless... combined with saying dumb things.

And yet, there he stays year after year, the golden nepotism ticket indeed.

It is like the network execs have never seen a great like Al Michaels or Vin Scully do this job and they do not know what is possible.

His dad was quite good (did national radio broadcasts and longtime Cardinal announcer, sharing time with Harry Caray in the '50s and '60s)...but Joe is dreadful. He was hired to do play-by-play for the Cardinals' Triple-A affiliate while still in college, and moved into the Cards' major league booth in no time flat. He's just one of those guys who's stuck around all these years, unbelievably becoming "the guy" for World Series, Super Bowls, etc. despite his lack of talent. Can't stand his generic, boring style.

I'm a big Dodger fan and Vin Scully's replacement (a young guy who did many TV road games for the club this season) is a Joe Buck clone...sounds just like him.

Thank you for the back ground bucky jr, I appreciate that. I did not know his history, but it makes sense about why/how he is so boring. He grew with a silver spoon, hang out with Daddy in the booth, probably went in the club house all the time as a brat, did it all, saw it all... and now yawns at it. Never sent a resume or reel in his life... never had to fight for a job or worry about it... just kiss the right ass, don't rock the corporate boat and hang around.

To me he doesn't seem like a fan of the games. He comes across like the bored lady at the grocery store check out line, saying items as they go... yawning... green beans- 49cents... bread- $1.99.... coming up to bat- some guy... and he is out at first... price check on Cheddar cheese. There is never any excitement in his voice.

He doesn't seem to "get it"... and I guess neither do the network execs, the guys in the truck or people behind the scenes. I guess they are all cut from the same cloth... it is just a job... pushing a product... and to them bucky boy seems fine. Push the product / dont rock the boat. It is just a product to them.... gallon of milk- $2.99... crackers- $1.50... hit up the middle... bag of chips- $1.77... yawn...

And maybe all of that is what is causing lower viewership in some sports.

I know this game and series had high viewership, but on a whole sports viewing is down. I know I have walked away from several sports when it just wasn't fun or interesting anymore. I am hanging with a few others... but the thrill is fading.

You're absolutely right...and he admitted as much a few years ago that he doesn't really enjoy baseball anymore. Wish he'd forgo his salary and stay home then!

Check this out for what he said...

""Joe Buck was on ESPN Radio this morning, and you can't make this stuff up, said he doesn't enjoy Baseball anymore and chooses to watch the Bachlorette over nightly Sports telecasts during the week.

The talk began with Cowherd complaining about Sports during the week and how the average Sports fan doesn't pay attention. He then brought Joe Buck on for the following conversation....""

wow.... How in the world does he have this job? It is just sad. sad smiley

Reading that article reminds me how much I miss John Madden...

"" I'll take John Madden's insane ramblings any day because you know in the end he loves the Sport of Football and he's just crazed at the moment and can't put his thoughts together ""

Thank you again for the links and information.

I know hear that an estimated 5 million attended the parade, the 7th largest gathering in human history. Not sure what the other six are?
