I had to leave/ quit the game at the rain delay, couldn't take it.
My H just texted Cubs 8-6. WOW.

well this is classic. a one run game bottom of the tenth two outs. tying man on first, winning run at the plate. Chi 8, Cleveland 7.
two outs. one swing and it could be over for each of the teams. I expect a quick third out and Chi win, but I didn't expect any of this hot hitting tonight and glad to see it.
And that's it. The Chicago Cubs are the Champions of the World. Congratulations Chicago. Good game Cleveland. Good series.

Congratulations Chicago! At least I don't have to write some long post about how I feel bad for Bill Murray. I wasn't looking forward to that. Great series! Sorry Cleveland.

Everyone loves the end of a curse! Congrats Chicago Cubs, can't imagine the moment. And well done Cleveland. They played a great game, certainly deserved it and fought hard. Made it an exciting series, and hey, now the world is rooting for you guys!

CHICAGO F'CKING CUBS!!!! 108 year drought is over! Hopefully the first of many! Blackhawks drew around 2 million to their victory parade, I wonder how many the Cubs will draw.
What a back and forth game, even the final out was tense. Next year, if the Cubs don't make it to the finals, I hope the Indians can win it!

Theo Epstein is a LEGEND. Broke the Red Sox curse AND the Cubs curse. Lock for Cooperstown.

As a Red Sox fan, I do feel bad for Terry Francona, but hopefully the Indians will be back.

As a Red Sox fan I feel the same, but they also couldn't BOTH win. You either had Francona doing both for the Sox and Cleveland or Epstein doing both for the Sox and the Cubs. Would have been fine with both, but admittedly the one we got is probably the cooler option. Basically, as a Red Sox fan, you couldn't go wrong either way.

Exactly. I actually couldn't figure out who to root for, but I was leaning slightly Indians. However, I'm happy for the Cubs and their fans to have that monkey off their back.

With the Cavs winning the NBA Championship this year, Cleveland has already had a lot of happiness. We definitely need to spread it around with the way this country is feeling.

WOW. Just WOW. Ended up watching most of the game due to being inside taking care of a sick German Shepherd. Gave up when it went to rain delay before extra innings. When I got up this morning and saw how quickly it ended I was kinda disappointed that I missed the ending in real time but know that, if I had stayed up, the game would have ended up going 12-15 innings.

Regardless, this member of Red Sox nation sends heartfelt congratulations to the Cubs organization and its fans! I know I've got a bit of a 2004 flashback going on and can remember how happy I felt. I imagine that many people in Cubs nation are feeling today the way I did then!

I'll extend congratulations to Cleveland as well, but, as far as encouragement for them next year... Screw that! Go Red Sox! 2017 World Series Champions in Boston? I'll be good with that! Go Red Sox!

Peace,
Mr DJA

A great game that unfortunately had a slight momentum change due to the rain delay. It's amazing seeing a game played without all the antics, dancing, and clowning that the NFL brings. I wish the teams would have worn a throwback jersey for at least one game in the series. It would also have been nice to see some historical stats on the last titles by both teams.

Joe Buck and John Smoltz did a great job. Clearly, the Fox broadcast had an edge of favoritism with Chicago visuals.

What happened to the Indians after being up 3-1 and only needing one more win to be Champions?

It looks like there is a new curse in town and its name is Marlins Man curse

[twitter.com]

His quote- ""After Indians lose this World Series, let them call it Marlins Man curse until they respect others""

Joe Buck has been awful for decades, and no matter how many people despise him, he NEVER goes anywhere. It's remarkable how much hate is hurled his way, and yet he continues to pop up on sports broadcasts all over America.

Could be a case of nepotism. His father, Jack, was a great broadcaster.

I dont recall hearing his Dad, but it may be case of I dont really pay much attention unless it really bad, and I mean bad to the point of detracting from the game. This guy is like a robot, he is the Ben Afflack of announcing. No emotion, no range, no engaging or respecting the viewers, matter of fact dead pan, boring and emotionless... combined with saying dumb things.

And yet, there he stays year after year, the golden nepotism ticket indeed.

It is like the network execs have never seen a great like Al Michaels or Vin Scully do this job and they do not know what is possible.

His dad was quite good (did national radio broadcasts and longtime Cardinal announcer, sharing time with Harry Caray in the '50s and '60s)...but Joe is dreadful. He was hired to do play-by-play for the Cardinals' Triple-A affiliate while still in college, and moved into the Cards' major league booth in no time flat. He's just one of those guys who's stuck around all these years, unbelievably becoming "the guy" for World Series, Super Bowls, etc. despite his lack of talent. Can't stand his generic, boring style.

I'm a big Dodger fan and Vin Scully's replacement (a young guy who did many TV road games for the club this season) is a Joe Buck clone...sounds just like him.
