Roger Waters and The Who Desert Trip Sunday 09-Oct-2016 live show updates
Posted by: bv ()
Date: October 9, 2016 23:56

Please post your live comments and reports from the Roger Waters and The Who performances at the Desert Trip concert Sunday October 9, 2016 in Indio, CA, USA.

PS. Normally Roger Waters and The Who are "off topic" here on IORR, but Desert Trip is very much On Topic, with many many Stones fans attending all three nights with six performing artists at the Coachella site these two week-ends.

Thanks for this thread BV. Maybe it's not so throughly OT anyway.
I guess most fans know The Who put out a double-sided single to support the Stones in 1967 after the setup and bust. It wasn't the safest time to step up and out like they did.
I've always found it endearing, and their versions are fun.
So here 'tis if someone wants some warm up music before the show tonight.
"In Support of Mick Jagger & Keith Richard" it says on label.

There are a lot of on-topic connections between these six acts. The Who, as you said, released the single in support of the Stones. I am the proud owner of it. Mick refered to the "English" bands at this event. Paul McCartned did "I Wanna Be Your Man". Many Stones fans will see all these acts this week-end. Enjoy the shows!

Today would've been the 72nd Birthday of John Entwistle of The Who. (October 9, 1944 – June 27, 2002)

John Lennon would have turned 76 today as well.

I can't watch or listen those periscope links, but from what I'm reading on Twitter everybody at the festival is overwhelmed by The Who's concert.

That was an amazing show. Blistering and brutal, they played like they had something to prove and really meant every note. I'm thoroughly surpised to be this impressed and moved. I first saw them in '68 and many times since, but all shows with the original 4. These guys really made it all work with tremendous songs and performances. 5 star show. Still incredible and worthwhile imo. !!! Long Live The Savage Young Who. Yowza they rocked.

They were fantastic when I saw them in Bologna, Italy 3 weeks ago and rocked the house down. Tonight, Imho, they've topped it. Performance of the weekend for me. Roger's voice rolled back 15 years tonight!

Take a bow, Rog, Pete and band! Zak Starkey did a fine Keith Moon impression on drums.
