It's a slow day at work so I will now bow out of this thread, I've said the same thing five different times now smiling smiley

But you said it well, and its so true what you have said, its just that some of the others can't handle the truth.
The Stones don't need to do these private gigs.

Oh now we have a written IORR Bible on what's the truth? Nice!!

Oh your back for more doom and gloom

lol yeah I'll be HMS and you can be GasLightStreet for this battle royal. smileys with beer

..."now only super rich people can [see them]"...

Really? It's not that many months ago that they played a free concert where the majority of the audience was at the furthest end of the spectrum from super rich!

So many of us want the Stones when they receive a big ticket offer to play a show like this to say, "No, it might upset the average fan if we do this. Thank you anyway. Ask McCartney instead." That makes sense. I'm sure we would all do the same. What a bunch of @#$%& crybabies. Everyone likes to make money and most people are intelligent enough not to turn down an opportunity to make the most possible.

People used to bum rush Ringo asking him for an autograph, and when he refused they would get upset and say "but we bought all your albums!". His response: Stop buying them then.

But he said it with peace and love. ;-)

thumbs up

Funny!

Who knows why any of the Stones still do this individually, it could be for the money, the fans and for themselves in equal measures. They may not even know themselves why they still go out and tread the boards. If i had just a few of their millions i doubt i could motivate myself to fly around the world on tour at their ages hanging around in hotels for 7 days between gigs. They are a phenomenon no doubt and we will never know what really makes them tick. All i will say is that i hope they do some good with this money, hopefully they give to their chosen charity without the need to tell anyone, that would be cool.

I'm bummed because Foxboro is 2 1/2 hours from my home and wish they had scheduled a few arena shows in Boston & NYC before their November 12 EXHIBITIONISM opening. They COULD HAVE! They knew about this private gig long enough in advance and they could have played TD BANK NORTH ( the old Boston Garden at least once between the end of the Vagas show and Nov 12....) so, the big question is this. Is this REALLY the last USA show for 2016? BV, do we have a chance at some add-ons?sad smiley

Maybe they just like to play music and the money. Who knows why they play? They are still awesome!

Don't worry, they will probably just do a relaxed, casual show where they try out those new blues numbers they recorded.

BV and others who have seen the Stones multiple times can say yeah whatever its just the way the world works and tough luck etc.
But for many people who missed the cancelled show it was a once in a life time chance to see the Stones and for others maybe their last chance to see them.
Why can't people be a bit upset by this, why are we brain washed into thinking the Stones are above criticism.
Please allow people to be pissed off for 5 mins

BV has basically sacrificed his life to get where he is. Others have sacrificed much too (not me). I bailed on Desert Trip because it was too much hassle for me (I live in Los Angeles) and I hate crowds. I figured, "ech, I'll see them in Vegas on the 19th". They canceled. Oh well. It's not a life changer. Even Mick penned "It's only rock and roll". Yeah, I know now I'll only ever see the band if I want to fly to Europe in 2017.

I challenge anyone to find fault in someone who's worked the same job for 55 years and has only had to call in sick a few times....A FEW TIMES! I've probably called in sick more in 2016 than The Stones did in 55 years.

And if you have an issue with them playing a private gig and you not getting in, you're just a jealous whiner. It ain't the 1970's any more, with 50-stop tours, coming to your city soon. Appreciate the fact that the band still even exists. Everyone else started breaking up in 1970....

Hey ego boy you're missing the point, its OK for people to be upset and disappointed with the way the Stones have behaved. The real fans should come first, they could have fitted another date this week to replace the cancelled Vegas gig but didn't, probably due to this private gig. They left it to the last minute to finally cancel a show they had no intention of playing, people spent a small fortune waiting to see if they were going to reschedule.
The other thing is why didn't they just do 2 stadium shows to the fans, it would make just as much profit, this 3 date tour is a joke. People are naturally sickened by the greed of this band. I'm lot a jealous whiner as you put it, iv'e seen this band many times and they have given me more than i could ever ask for, but it needs to be said, they have totally sold out now, very sad.

But you don't really know any of these things, you're assuming worst-case scenarios all the way here.

Mick could have been real sick, they could have had trouble selling out stadiums etc. etc.

I'm not for one moment saying he wasn't sick, read my posts before replying to them

Then who wrote this:

"They left it to the last minute to finally cancel a show they had no intention of playing"

It never crossed your mind that a sick musician, who wants to perform, would wait and see how he feels - so maybe he could do the show after all?

"No intention of playing?" Who told you that?
Yeah who knows the whole Vegas thing was weird period! I heard from a Big security guy at a casino I was gambling at saying they didn't have enough Police in the city that night because they were afraid if a Riot broke out during the Presidential debates it would of been complete chaos but who knows it's over and it seemed to me Mick was definentaly holding back and that why he put a lot of time into the Harmonica just my observation the show had it's moments I thought too like somebody wrote a few threads back that it seemed everbody had there moments it was'nt a super insane show but it was a good show imo not up there with the best show I've ever seen like some people are stating but it was a good all around show for the circumstances. It was a huge let down for me when I checked in my hotel and they said the show was canceled that took a lot of wind out of my sails for the whole rest of the week that's for sure waiting not knowing if they were going to play or not. Then another issue Security was selling picks down by my side up front on Woody's side and the band saw it and they were yelling s&*$ my way a few times I noticed so that was and issue too the security guy started at 50 then he was saying 400 I laughed and said he was F#$%@#$% NUTS when he said 400!!Unbelievable but that's not the Stones fault that's sin city that's how they do things in that town it's all about MONEY! I hope everybody has a good time tonight at the show I wish I had a little more energy and time I could of got into the show I just found out if I was in Boston through a friend of mine. O well let's hope they all stay healthy Charlies looking pretty frail but it isn't doing one thing to his playing his playing is fabulous still he's really keeping the band as well as Mick Together in my opinion the guitar playing is very erratic, Like Mick says it takes 7 to 20 shows to get that Machine The Rolling Stones firing on all cylinders. That's the problem with these now it seems like almost like there a 1 off show that is not going to cut it the 14 or 15 show thing was pretty cool but this private party deal and a few gigs here or there is not going to make it very well imo. So hopefully Spring and Summer we can get a good little run out of the Boy's!

I am in no way defending the Stones for doing this corporate gig nor am I trying to tell anyone how to feel. I just don't get why anyone is so up in arms about this either way. The Stones absolutely do not owe us anything. We choose to pay the ridiculous prices, we choose to buy their music, t shirts, books etc. Hell they could pretty much do or throw anything out there for the public and you have the choice to pay for it or not.
Of course it was a major bummer that Mick got sick for Vegas 1 but how exactly is that missing a chance of a lifetime to see 'em. It's 2016, where exactly have you been for the last 54 years and thousands of shows?
Anyway more importantly, any truth to the rumor that Stones2000 has weaseled his way in as a guest of Gronkowski's ?

enuff with the hero worship ... they don't give a shit about their fans. they couldn't care less about the salt of the earth or us. they got what they wanted from us. we made them filthy rich. we bought all the records, the cassettes, the 8 tracks, the cds, the reissues, the t-shirts, the concert tickets, the tour programs, etc... we bought it all. we bought it all, even though it has been very much less than stellar for almost the last thirty five @#$%& years and even worse for the last twenty seven. no artistry, just a brand.

@#$%& greed. that's all they're about now. well, mick and keith anyway. it's all a money grab. charging people 800 dollars for tickets to see the same stale, by the numbers show, year after year. it's outrageous. cancelling the las vegas show and not rescheduling ... not right. their tour insurance will cover it, however, so no loss to them. so what if their devoted fans, many who spent a lot of money to travel to nevada, lost out. no skin off their back. the reality is that jagger can no longer sing three shows in a week, so one of the shows had to be removed from the itinerary and it sure wasn't going to be the billionaire's show.

I don't believe we know at this time. I don't think bv made it to the trucker's thing but Matt was apparently a guest of the band (least they could do since he provided most of the stuff for Exhibitionism).

Stones2000, that was a laugh, but that wasn't his UserID, or is there another OnlyStones out there?

If the Stones ever come back to the US to tour stadiums - and that's a BIG doubtful if - this is what the shows will look like if they keep up their outrageous pricing shenanigans. No longer will they be tarping off unsold sections...they'll squeeze all paying customers into a glorified circus tent.
