I should sound better on two discs.

Yes...42 minutes will fit easily on single disc but 2 discs will still allow better mastering with a greater dynamic range.

I hope the album will be a single disc. There is no need for a two vinyl disc-set with a 42 minute album, imo.

What I today prepaid for, was a (2LP).

That's what I feared... It disturbs the flow of this brilliant album. I'll record it to reel-to-reel smiling smiley

I don't hear it too ofen these days either.winking smiley

It's nice to have the vinyl... but the "art" of mastering it needs to be recaptured.

With all the talk about how this album was recorded, I'm keen to hear how it's been mastered... and how it subsequently sounds on a half way decent record playing system.

Deliberately I have avoided to hear anything at all in advance. The experience of listening to a new Stones album is gonna be like not only in the near, but even the distant past.

Then I very much agree, also I would have preferred a single disc. To turn and change discs and that often, will disturb the enjoyment more than what is gained, I believe.

I actually enjoyed Atlanta traffic yesterday and this morning, jamming to B&L at loud volume. It really sounds good cranked, what an incredible album!

This all leads to a Stones album that is very unique.

So it's not unique (1.being the only one of its kind; unlike anything else.) but it's very unique.

That's heavy, man. I don't know how to understand that.

Interesting. I don't recall seeing even one thing negative from anyone on this board who has heard the album. I am sure there will eventually be some dissenters, but so far it's unanimous love for this fine album!!

I still can't get enough of it, it just gets better with each listen. Just, wow!

Keith Richards Explains How the Rolling Stones Chose the Songs for Their New Blues-Covers Album

V.F. contributing editor Lisa Robinson catches up with the Stones’ guitarist about the inspiration—and creative process—behind the track selection for Blue & Lonesome.

By Lisa Robinson - Holiday 2016

“It certainly wasn’t planned,” says Keith Richards about the Rolling Stones’ new blues album, Blue & Lonesome. “We just ran through some blues numbers to get the sound in the studio,” he adds, “but the more we listened to the stuff, we realized we had to obey orders.” For the Stones, recording 12 tracks in five days is a first in their 54-year career, and, Richards says, “it all happened by itself.” Here, he shares his thoughts with Lisa Robinson on a few of the classics covered on their new album, out December 2.

“BLUE AND LONESOME”
—Little Walter
“Little Walter inspired all of us with his work with Muddy Waters. He was Muddy’s harp player for most of the 1950s, and it was always standout stuff.”

“HATE TO SEE YOU GO”
—Little Walter
“A lot of the songs on this album are Mick’s and my Top 10. Mick’s harp playing is great; this is where Mick Jagger can shine and where nobody else can put a foot.’’

“I CAN’T QUIT YOU BABY”
—Willie Dixon/Otis Rush
“Willie Dixon was probably the King of the Chicago blues, the Big Daddy of Chicago and Chess Records; head and shoulders above everyone. A lot of Muddy Waters’ hits were Willie Dixon songs.”

“RIDE ‘EM ON DOWN”
—Eddie Taylor
“Eddie Taylor—a great guitar player and a lovely voice. He isn’t a name that would jump out at you unless you were really into the blues, but he was very well known in blues circles. And, like most of that Chicago-blues stuff, there’s lovely interplay with the guitars. Always two guitars—the ancient form of weaving.”

Yeah I had the impression you could hear distortion on just about every instrument, not just the vocals.
But I agree B&L is very good.

I wasn't aware of the term "brickwalled", but I listened last night and thought the whole album seemed flat. Now I know why.
