Just realized it is being aired live right now on the west coast and repeated later.
Tuned in to see Elton with someone butchering the vocals to Tiny Dancer - turns out it's Miley Cyrus?!!! Wow she's bad.
Nice of Elton to appear AND perform even though he could have/should have picked a better duet partner.
Too bad no Stones!!! Won't even get to see a taped thank you speech!

The prejudice by stones fans to popstars is laughable.
There was absolutely nothing wrong with Miley Cyrus.
She did good. Don’t like her music very much, but she’s in it for all the right reasons.

‘Butchering’....jesus...

Glad you liked it!

Seriously though, really not my cup of tea as her singing leaves a bit to be desired imo - I prefer Lady GaGa. thumbs up

Yeah, I prefer Billie Holiday to Lady Gaga, but that doesn’t make Gaga horrible.
(I really like Lady Gaga btw)

To ridicule Cyrus’ performance is based on nothing but prejudice. Her voice might not be your cup of tea, but she wasn’t bad and didn’t butcher anything.

Don't know why you feel the need to defend Miley Cyrus - I thought it was bad, you thought it was good - what's the big deal?
Based on prejudice? I saw what I saw and heard what I heard and ultimately didn't like it. I probably love things you don't, but I wouldn't pounce on you for having a differing opinion.

Just watched it on YouTube. It's not a wreck. Sure, there's been better. But whatever. She wasn't terrible. And I don't like her!

I wasn't even sure it was her when I tuned in until my wife told me (Miley changes her appearance constantly), all I know is I didn't like her voice. A bit rough and a low register - someone mentioned similar to Stevie Nicks, but sounds closer to Cher to me. Anyhow, no biggie - was just a comment about a bad Grammy performance on a Stones board. If this were a message board for the Disney Channel (where she was once a child actress), or a message board for fans of Billy Ray Cyrus of "achy breaky heart" fame (her daddy), I could understand the negative reaction to my opinion.

On another note, I saw Pink perform last night which was sort of the opposite - a terrible song but she has decent voice!

Me? I dislike both Miley and GaGa. Intensely. Just don't like their voices, nor their initial 'pornstar' looks, images they felt they initially needed to ensure they get noticed. Which is, regrettably, how many female singers go, feeling the need to initially go with what I term a 'pornstar' look to just try and get a career happening.

Kudos to both Miley and GaGa for abandoning those images and 'maturing' into proper artists. Now - if they could just fix their voices.... ;-)

I fail to see why Stones fans, whose average ages range from 45 to 70, should be expected to like today's flavor of the month pop singers whose product is geared toward 14-year-old girls.

The last pop singer who moved me was Norah Jones, in 2002. But I was still in my mid-30s then.

I don't feel the need to defend Cyrus. I'm not a fan myself, I don't have one record of her and maybe know 3 songs.
Only, that wasn't a shameful performance. Not in any way. The only way to think that if you made your mind up in advance about Miley Cyrus.
Not your cup of tea? It's not mine either. But she did just fine

Some people need to know who is performing or singing before judging. If that would have been Diana Krall (or somebody else who is respected), with the same performance, it would have been loved.

Miley? She must be bad. She's a former disney star, and daughter of mr. achy breaky heart.

That might be it. I'm 37. I hope I can still listen to music without blinders on when I'm 45 and don’t get stuck with Dweezil Zappa approved Dad Rock.

btw... I don't expect anyone to like. But you can not watch that performance and think she is butchering it.

B&L was released in 2016, so why a Grammy for 2017?

What are the eligibility requirements?
For the 60th Annual GRAMMY Awards, albums must be released between Oct. 1, 2016, and Sept. 30, 2017. Recordings must be commercially released in general distribution in the United States, i.e. sales by label to a branch or recognized independent distributor, via the internet or mail order/retail sales for a nationally marketed product. Recordings must be available for sale from any date within the eligibility period through at least the date of the current year’s voting deadline (final ballot).

Just to clarify:
If the recording is ONLY available on a streaming service (as some of the STONES archive series have been) is it then not eligible for consideration by the Grammy board?

I’m 50 w/ now tween girls (heaven help me)
I am ‘up’ on the POP muzic because I drive them around switching stations.
Miley Cyrus ‘The Climb’ ‘Party In The USA’ were hits we played.
Here is the thing tho.
Very few young pop ‘stars’ that get some success with a music release, maybe even a follow up, can sustain that level of sales and impact over time.
No matter how long the record companies keep trying or makeovers, etc.
So don’t begrudge us when it’s over for them.

Furthermore, when young completely different stylistic artists are added to classic rock songs *cough Memory Motel
the fans tend to say: WTF

P.S.
I did like Ed the red headed kid on BOB ;-)

Sorry I'm trying to comprehend this line. Is MM a reference to us Stones fans being turned off by this song when it came out??

BTW my wife is my kid when it comes to music, I Heart radio stuff. Not good for the most part but once in a blue moon I like a song, this week's being Best Friend by Sofi Tukker. LOL just remembered tomorrow's full moon is a blue moon

I think 35love was referring to when Dave Matthews guested on (and destroyed) Memory Motel.
There's a thread about it here > Dave Matthews/Stones

Ed Sheeran ("Ed the red headed kid") guested on 'Beast Of Burden' in Kansas City 2015.

Okay understood. Man I was lucky to see Gary Clark Jr. tear apart Going Down in Boston. No guest issues that night...>grinning smiley<

I don’t diss Miley,
I have thought there is a genuine feeling from her heart she is able to communicate, I heard it again with her single ‘Malibu’

My guess is she is going to head to Australia and have a baby or two, and come back again.

I nicknamed him Ed the red headed kid, that very night.
And now he is ALL over my radio, ALL the time, going on and on about his girlfriend. OMG that kid is popular, touring and #1
I'm tired of him (sorry Ed)
But he brought it with Jagger, took guts.

Forget what you see on the TV. All one has to do is listen. You either like it or you don't. How much is subjective. So if it's some new act that is late teens or early 20s and they're awesome - then they're awesome.

I don't think age has to do with if something is good or not. When I was young it was no different - I either liked it or I didn't, and that was for new (young) artists or old (old) artists that, at times, I'd either never heard of or hadn't heard in a long time.

He's right about one thing. We are tough on Pop musicins. Probably because our band was the standard bearer of anti-pop when The Stones hit the stage. " We don't need no stinking hooks in our tunes." Just riffs and a killer backbeat.

Nice deal. There was a similar deal around the time of it's release from Amazon UK that was a little bitless than that (apprx. £7.50), and I bought three copies giving one to my niece.
While it is a nice package/box, it's still just one cd and a mini booklet of photos.

As the description says:

"Deluxe edition including CD album, 75 page mini-book about the making of the album and band postcard prints".

I think the original asking price for this was around £25.00 (maybe even more?), but they must have had a really hard time selling them at that price.
Worth the £8.97 (or £7.50), but don't think it's worth any more than that.

Is there any leaked version of this great album without those Leavell overdubs, which were not intended to even exist?
By the way, it's hard for me to even spot those keys, among Clifford's, but it would be nice to listen those recordings as they were meant to be.
