The blues music is not poverty, but instead it is the music of suffering. The rich also suffer, every man suffers!

I love it; it's just so heartfelt. If they never did another album, it would be the most perfect to go out on.

It reminds me of the following blues albums:

1. Hard Again: Muddy Waters
2. Sweet Tea: Buddy Guy

It has that sort of crunchy brilliant vibe.

Seems like all the major Swedish newspapers have rated the album 4/5 stars. As I predicted. I can't remember the last time that happened.

Dragged my self up to Sunset Blvd to Amoeba. Looked tackier than I
remembered it. And frankly, I felt like the only hip customer of the
20 or so alleged humans looking at other stuff.

And there it was. $16 bucks THE album...I am waiting until Sunday to dedicate my day to listening.

I expect to LOVE it. Even without Bill, who I continue to worship.

People always complain.
If you dont like this.
You dont like The Rolling Stones. They sound like this.

Bass, this and that, guitarr separation, Charlies crash....

I mean...it´s not a dancefloor thing we´re talking here....

But still.

I dance a bit in my kitchen.

3. (This has as much to do with what I've heard as well as some of what I've read in this thread) I feel sorry for all of the people who can't seem to listen to what is there without hearing what is not or what they've heard in other versions of these songs.

Peace,
Mr DJA

Valid point Mr DJA, and I admit it can be a burden when attempting to hear this with an open mind.
And to clarify, I'm not saying this is a bad album. After a couple listens I'd give it a 2.5 out of 5 - might have given it a 3 or 4 had there been any originals on it.
It's great band effort where at least they all seem to be in the same page, but alas it's simply a covers album in which I would prefer to listen to the the originals. Just my opinion.

For me, it's akin to to a classic movie that I grew up with that's been remade. Take the original King Kong from 1933 for example - classic in every way. Yet there have been a couple remakes that just didn't quite have the same qualities as the original. Not saying they were horrible - they just didn't match or come near to the original version. Or take the movie Longest Yard w/Burt Reynolds from the early '70's (a classic in my mind)- for some reason Adam Sandler decided to do a remake, and needless to say it was subpar at best. There might be some people who like the newer versions of the films mentioned above, but for me it's hard to beat something that's already etched in my mind as great.

Or another example. When I eat an In'N'Out burger (which is rarely), and then find out some other fast food joint has come out with a knock off version. While the thought was there, the quality just isn't up to snuff. Or eating a taco at my favorite authentic Mexican restaurant in town, and then having to settle for something called a 'taco' at Taco Bell. Again, some may like those knockoffs and 'tacos' better than the real deal, and not criticizing those that do. The same can be said about the cover tunes on this album.

Again, not a bad album, especially when compared to alot of (or all of) their stuff from the last 35 years. In a perfect world, they would play the entire album in small theaters - hearing a couple of them played live at the Desert Trip shows was a highlight of the setlists.

Has anybody seen a jewel case version? There is one listed at Saturn.de but they didn't have one at my local store. They had some vinyl but it was already sold out when I went there

I got a jewel case version from Barnes & Noble, they had a deluxe boxed version too for $50 with a booklet and extra tracks. They had it behind the counter, didn't see an album there.

Perhaps the sales person was mistaken. There is no extra CD on the deluxe edition, so maybe he or she was referring to the set of postcards which is included on the box-set.

Best Buy also has a deluxe version listed at $49.99 - Blue and Lonesome.
No extra tracks - looks like the same one on official site.

5 stars

Blue and Lonesome is a late in the game home run that many/most people did not think this band was capable of anymore. It proves the critics wrong in a big way and returns the Stones to the status of The Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World... This album just feels so authentic. For lack of a better term, it's just so Stonsey in the best possible way.

This album is full of swagger that has at times been missing from recent releases...It doesn't try and compete with the current trends of pop culture (been there/done that) and instead is a mature, yet still vital piece of music from true musicians and not the here today gone tomorrow pop stars of today. Quite frankly it's an album that the Stones should have started making 20+ years ago...Let's hope they can keep the loose/confident feel of this album going for the studio album of originals that is coming next.

After hearing this album today, I'm thrilled to say that it's almost 2017 and the Rolling Stones are alive and well!!!
