Will do Hank this afternoon when I go back to my studio which is apprx. 50 yards from the beach.thumbs up
In the meantime, I also await impatiently for Dec. 2. Good to see so many here are loving it - haven't seen all this positiveness here...ever.
Even Keith's masterpiece last year brought out a variety 'mixed emotions' around here. Perhaps it wasn't everyone's cup of tea, but somehow an album of unoriginal blues covers is?
Glad about all the good vibes, and looking forward to indulge myself in the goods...hard to believe at this late point in the Stones' career we're gifted with two great releases nearly within a year of each other.thumbs up

smileys with beer

I am going to have the Blues for Christmas for sure this year...

STONES!!!

One thing is clear on this LP - Ronnie is carrying the load! Damn good, too.

...wadda bout Keef?

Doing a fine job.

Very nice electric 12 string slide work on Hoodoo Blues and a cool outro solo on All Of Your Love. He sounds like he's having a blast playing these songs thumbs up

Yeah, Keith's there but Ronnie is doing a lot of the 'lead' lines, a lot of the busy licking. Keith does some excellent vamps, the kind of blues vamping he loves to do.

Many of the riffs and leads are Ronnie. And yes, Keith does have some brilliant bluesy vamping parts. This all leads to a Stones album that is very unique. I think it's fantastic. I'm sure some will complain. But this is a band album and it's not live. A few overdubs from Chuck and it was done.

I haven't seen this posted here before, and I know there are a lot of people here who don't have a Facebook profile or doesn't read some posts over there, so I thought it would be worth posting here as well.

Blue & Lonesome at Sounds of the Universe - London

"To celebrate the release of Blue & Lonesome, the Soho record shop Sounds of the Universe (that used to be a pub, where the Stones rehearsed before their first gigs in 1962), is opening its doors at 8am on release day for a special fan event.

The first 100 Stones fans to purchase the album will receive a very special, hand numbered litho print. There will also be a special release day T-shirt for sale, and the last copies of the electric blue ‘Ride Em’ On Down’ 10’’, which will be available at 1960's pricing for anyone purchasing the album, just £1.60! Arrive early to avoid disappointment: [soundsoftheuniverse.com];

Listened twice fully through last night and selected tracks this morn. Wish I didnt need to show up at work, could get some beers in and 'ave Blue and Lonesome groovin'

Great time to be a fan of this great band; Keiths album last year and the documentary, two films this year, tours, and now a sublime collection of blues nuggets smiling smiley

I can hear (what appears to be) the acoustic, but it's so low in the mix... Could it be percussion instead?

Where do you hear the third electric guitar?

The Ronnie "side" sounds to me like two guitars blended together, at some parts. I may be wrong though.

Some of the tracks have guitars bleeding into eachother. Just A Fool, for instance, it's really hard to separate the guitars. I guess they were honest (for once) about recording some of the tracks in a circle with just a few mics..

For instance, go to 1:02 and listen to the riff that Ronnie plays. At this point I can hear it being played in two voices, an octave apart. What's that? Overtones? Ronnie's brilliant technique? Or a third guitar.

Well thanks to one of my good IORR buddies I got an MP3 of the album yesterday and it's every bit as good as I hoped it would be.

This is the Stones performing more or less live in a south side Chicago juke joint - not to dissimilar to the time they played the Checkerboard Lounge with Muddy Waters.

For guitar fans the album is weave-tastic - Keith and Ronnie meshing like never before with such authenticity that we're immediately transformed back to the early 60s and even earlier to the 50s when many of these recordings were made.

Blue And Lonesome is the sound of the band firing up the Stonesmobile on high octane blues power and playing with the urgency of the band that started out on the road 54 years ago.

If you love songs like Little By Little, Parachute Woman, Stop Breaking Down, Long Black Limousine and The Storm then you're gonna go mad for this.

This album is the real Black and Blue.

How much i dearly love this album, i would have loved it more, if Keef had done the vocals on the song Blue n Lonesome. Other than that....i adore the album and am very very HAPPY with it.

Keith is relatively subdued throughout . By that I mean he's buried in the rhythm section which is probably where he wants to be. That said, the guitars bleed into each other a lot with little separation on a lot of tracks. Great playing by Ronnie.
"The way I treat You" sounds like 1964 Stones. I thought the 1st solo was Keith at first, but probably all Ron - I can usually tell immediately !

A brilliant release . Thank Christ It's not another ABB !I've listened to this more in 24 hrs than 11 years of that album.

PS Charlie sounds at his swinging best and Mick........well just listen to it cool smiley.

This one's a keeperthumbs up

I hope the album will be a single disc. There is no need for a two vinyl disc-set with a 42 minute album, imo.
