I wanna ask you another question:in your opinion how many copies Blues album can sell?!In my opinion, with a good publicity...600K
A new studio album of originals I think could sells 1 million/1.2...Twice as much...With a good "concept" with the European Tour, don't you?!

Both album will sell the same, I can see this one on 1 million or 1.2 million if it sell well in the States, lets say 400k in the States, Europe and the rest of the world, after the Christmas season is over the album will be over too, about 70-80% of the total sales will be on the first 4 weeks.

Do you think if Andrew Loog Oldham finds out about this all blues release, he will try and lock Mick and Keith in the kitchen again and not let them out until they come up with original material, LOL!

If they had recorded 7 originals worth releasing them they would have recorded another 3 and we would have gotten a new album of originals this year. Their original stuff (finished songs, unfinished songs, sketches, jams, demos, whatever) turned out to be... not that good, I guess. So they simply decided to release the "warm-up-session". So we luckily get a blues album after all these years.

I doubt this. IMHO, they just build up the tension. First the loose, relaxed album where they had not to think about much really - just play the stuff they like and give their own loving touch.

Next up, the new material, of which we already heared that it's pretty good stuff. Bang!

Just my 2 cts. worth...

It quite remains me of From The Cradle, the blues album recorded by Clapton in the 90's. It was live in the studio, and for me it was a strong LP.

So when I tried to preorder this, it's only giving me UK links. Is it available for preorder in the US yet? (Sorry if this info has already been posted.)

Edit: OK, found it at the official store. Not on US Amazon, though. (Free shipping!)

It's sort of amazing that everyone's excited about an album that took them 3 days (or so the story goes) to record and it might actually sell as it's "sell-able" to the masses, versus yet another album of new material of "absolutely no importance" (copyright Rocky Dijon talking about the aborted 2002 album) that would have taken months to record with the usual drama involved.

Did I actually say that? I can be a prick, can't I?

Apologies are in order, my bad ! I was correct on the content but it was from "Lem Motlow" and I've been made to "pay" for my error by having to trawl the forums to find that exact message -> [iorr.org] (original message edited). Again, I'm most sorry confused smiley

It could well be that they're starting an "American Recordings" trek like Johnny Cash and whatever new material Mick has can be released on solo albums, which is what ABB was for the most part with the Stones as sessions musicians. And if it's the "last one" (you never know...), well they will have come full circle, not a bad way to end things.

IF this album sell well (it has a chance, December is the best month of the year for sales) we can see another one in a couple of years, it took less than a week to record this one, so another 11-12 covers are very easy to record with few time on studio.
If they go to TV and perform one or two tracks it could be a hot seller on Christmas.

Thanks for your insight, let's hope it does well and gives them a creative "boost", while the money's good I'm sure they'd prefer to have their new material doing well than constantly rehashing the old stuff, especially in friggin' Vegas at a convention! Fortunately they had Cuba under their belt before that ;-)

I don't know if already mentioned, but Mick used to sing "Ride 'Em All Down" With Alexis Korner's Blues Inc. at Ealing Club already in May 1962.

Wow, first thought is that Mick actually took my advice and recorded "Commit A Crime" with the Stones! He did a great version with Jeff Beck a few years ago for a White House event:

Not sure if everyone saw this yet or not, but if you preorder in the US on iTunes for the album you get the single now. Just in case anyone needs that info.

I was thinking the exact same thing earlier today...that album had several lesser known tunes (to me), and I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to this one!

Keith and the Stones are on a roll!
First Crosseyed Heart, and now a back to basics blues covers album that sounds legit from the one track I've heard.
Who would have ever guessed...the two best Stones related albums since Tattoo You released almost within a year of each other! thumbs up
I'm really, really hoping they will play at least one of these new blues tunes at these Desert shows (and at the Vegas shows for those who are going), and possibly four or five of them....
I can think of quite a few warhorses that should be given a rest out in the pasture from this point forward.

It is going to be a great album for the real fans. The critics will love it. But after an initial buzz the general public will not pay much attention to it. My bet is the stones will include 1 maybe 2 songs in their set list and we will all beg for more.....

What a relief it was Lem that was a prick and not me! Mind you, it's easy to confuse us since we've been friends since we were four or five years old. I remember standing by the Rapid Transit station when I was on my way to reform school and I saw Lem for the first time in years. He was carrying some magazines under his arm. WIDE LOAD, BIG 'N' NASTY, MESSY BOTTOMS. I said to him, "Hey, Lem! I haven't seen you in years, but where'd ya get the magazines?" The rest, of course, is pornographic history.

When they do Indio and Vegas, they should do the Blues numbers on the small stage. That would be phenomenal

the artwork on the new disc is VERY IMPORTANT.an album is a piece of artwork, from the music inside to the package it comes in.the covers of exile, let it bleed etc are iconic.are the covers of sticky fingers and bigger bang equal to the point it doesn't matter? of course not.

they need to make a VINYL album, with the music and artwork on point and use it as the template.then stream it,put it on itunes, make a cd or whatever.the imagery is a big deal.a funky cover that fits the music inside is a world apart from that digital tongue design we've seen a million times

they are off to a great start, the song sounds fantastic and great job keeping it to 11 songs,it's looking good.

Lem says that, but he's got foreskin like a rhinoceros' backside.

Meantime, I note that not only is Mick revisiting "Commit a Crime" (which he played at RED, WHITE, & BLUES with Jeff Beck) but also "Everybody Knows About My Good Thing" (which he played with Gary Moore and released on the "Don't Tear Me Up" single). Also, Matt Clifford plays on the album as well. Not sure how I feel about that. I may be nitpicking, but it's a pity they didn't pair Chuck with Ben Waters instead.
