Matching outfits and they look happy together...

What I notice Mick looks as if he still hasn't recovered from the excesses of the 1975 tour. Remember Annie Leibowitz went straight to rehab after the tour ended.

Speaking of Olga Korbut, I already miss the women's gymnastics. The level of difficulty is much greater today for the women, but Nadia Comaneci was pure grace and fluidity, like a ballet dancer, an artist, and as astonishing it is to watch Simone Biles and her athleticism, today's gymnasts lack that kind of artistry.

And the floor was just floor, no springs...the balance beams wooden, so you could argue that the level of difficulty was greater then.

Totally agree. Also don't really get why men's and women's gymnastics are still so different! If men are capable of uneven bars, vault and beam, and women capable of rings, pummel horse and parallel bars, then why can't they be evaluated on all/an even selection of a few of those? Just seems odd to me. Also have an issue with the lack of music in men's floor routines but that's a topic for another day.

Are they over yet? It seems like they won't stop. It has to be the weirdest Olympics ever, too. So many weird injuries, giant rodents roaming around, the Lochte thing, and tropical diseases.

Definitely weird, but a great break from real-world shenanigans. The Irish Olympics boss is now in a high-security Rio prison, the Swedish ladies score an own goal in a thrilling gold medal final. I'll be sad when they end at the weekend. A few more weeks of weirdness would suit me fine. We do have the Paralympics but the Brazilians completely and utterly bungled that.

Thanks, Cristiano! I hope it gets TV coverage here. The Paralympics at the London games were as exciting as the regular Olympics.

Edit: And it seems we're in luck. https://www.paralympic.org/news/nbc-reveals-commentators-rio-2016-paralympics

Maybe Team G B's success at the games will lessen the drive for Scottish independence?

I don't think one will have any effect on the other.

Well deserved!

BTW, why is it that at the olympics, GBr competes as a whole, but at other sport tournaments it's England, Scotland and Wales?

There is a photo of him on the Daily Telegraph live blog. Scroll down past the dancing vegetables and the Japanese PM as Super Mario:
