I was hoping for something like a director's cut, so we would get the whole show and not some songs cut out. But at least we get the whole setlist.

I saw the movie last night in Niagara Falls. Question.

The credits stated that the concert was for 1.2 million people. I was at Sarsstock were it was estimated to have 450,000 people. There seamed to be twice as many people at Sarsstock. Even on the IORR tour page it says 500.000 in Cuba. So how many people were there. I'm saying around 300,000.

I can't believe it is more than 200.000 people. Certainly not 1.2 million. During satisfaction they show a lot crowd shots.

The attendance on this concert was discussed on the live updates thread. There's also some reports from BBC ("tens of thousands") and Associated Press (more than 200,000). It was the Stones themselves who stated there were 1.2 million people there.

I can't believe, that I will never see the introduction part of Havana moon, cause I missed it at the cinema and it seems that it is not included in the blu ray version. The more I think about it, the more crazy I go.angry smiley

I will only buy the Havana Moon DVD this time (the two CD's are the same songs) and wait for Ole Ole Ole ....

Or maybe buy the japanese Ward deluxe? How much is that?

Havana Moon and Ole Ole Ole as a 2 DVD and 1 CD (with the whole Havana show) would sell more copies than all these different blablabla.
I will buy it non the less. I am a BELIEVER!
LONG LIVE THE ROLLING STONES!
HAVANA MOON was great at the movies!

...in Havanna in the days before the show, there was talk of about 250.000 to max 400.000. I could be wrong but, having been there, I don`t think it was much more than 500.000, if that. I don`t believe that field could have hold 1.2 mio, that`s ridiculous. A great show, but not THAT huge.

and now I read it won't include interview clips that were in the actual movie?

I'll wait and see if this pops up on Showtime or HBO. If not I have a pretty good library and they had Hyde Park (the 2013 version). I just hope this new crap ends pretty soon so we can get back to vault releases.

This is the first (live) release I WON'T be buying.
I was thouroughly underwhelmed by the overall performance;
and what (+ the way) Keith was playing made my heart cry from sorrow...

Bring that (blues) album on, already!

What's up with this Japan-only exclusivity? Do Ward Records offer the Stones a great big load of cash to get these rights? TBH, I'd probably only watch the docu once but it would be cool to have the full package. Meanwhile, Dylan releases a vast 30+ CD set of one entire tour. We can only dream.........

I thought his playing on Angie was excellent. Much of his rhythm playing was really good, too, even the licks on HTW were back in sync.

I don't count the solos on the «greeting the audience»-numbers SFTD and Satisfaction, though, as he obviously don't care how he sounds there (although he surprised me by picking up a few licks the studio version on SFTD) smiling smiley

Not surprised to read these comments. I love Keith but it's sad that a song like SFTD, which was once a tour de force (Ya Ya's, Love You Live, even Tokyo Dome) has become one where the guitar solo could be a bathroom break.

"Gonna find my way to heaven ..."

Re: The Rolling Stones - "Havana Moon" in cinemas September 23

His playing (to my ears) was extremely limited; limited to thre few chords he's able to squeeze in these days without wrecking the whole ship.
Now Keith has always been 'the man' of "less is more"; so even just a few 'hits' can do the trick with him... But he ain't nothing compared to the rhythm wonder he used to be (and, I agree: that's only natural...); and he's nothing like the "modern-day Keith 2.0" he was between (roughly) 1988 and 2003 (and maybe that is only natural too, but it's a true pitty all the same).

Not to 'bash' him or anything; I'm aware of the issues involved (age, brain surgery, arthritis, consequences of years of drug abuse etc.); and I know - at least for some of us - this ain't exactly "new" (comments like these have been around - a.o. on this forum - for years now). It's just the first time that it really, réally bugged me.
To me, the Stones were always a guitar-driven band; and first & foremost "Keith's army".
Both things are gone, now; and I miss'em. Tru & thru!

Saw it yesterday. It was better than I expected. Nice details of the band changing clothes and guitars behind the curtain, taking contact with each other on stage and obviously enjoying the show still after all these years.
I'm glad Miss You was dropped from the film, but All down the line would've been a nice add as well as Before they make me run.
Sacha did tremendeous job with Gimme Shelter, I think she was even better than Lisa. Her take was closer to Merry Clayton's original than Lisa's over the top acrobatics. But the synth mat from Matt Clifford...c'mon....
It was not Ronnie's best night (is there any anymore?), Keith did pretty well (read:no bum notes), but man did I miss Mick Taylor in every solo. Especially in Rambler.
Funny thing is that Paint it black is so slow nowadays, that it seems it's hard for Mick to phrase the lyrics that slow. :-)
