I wonder why the lineup changed? Did Rosie get the Ronnie Wood treatment? The show is on Dime. Decent audio recording:

Thanks for the link, had checked Dime but too early it seems!

I can hear Jimmy Hall now, during the show he was completely drowned by the guitar as I was only getting sound from the stage amps and particularly Jeff's. I suppose that in the back the room's "PA" kicked in.

As for Rosie, it's a mystery indeed, nothing about it on his FB page and she wasn't back in Brussels : [www.setlist.fm]

Crawdaddy told me he saw you making a sharp exit part way through one of those shows.

The only time I ever saw him live was when he guested for 1 song at O2 Show 1 in November 2012 and I though his guitar was turned up far too loud, drowning out Keith's and Ronnie's.

Correct, it was the second of the two Beck shows that I referred to, it was the one at the Royal Albert Hall. The other was years earlier, at the Shepherds Bush Empire ...

Mr Beck in concert ? Not for me. sad smiley thumbs down

But I'm sure many others think the sun shines out of ........ y'all know the rest ! Whatever it is he's got, I personally can neither see it nor hear it ... maybe his talent is completely outshone by his beguiling and wonderfully warm and overtly communicative personality ? That must be what it is .....

Apparently Rosie had some scheduling conflicts, too bad would have liked to hear some new material the other day. Some of it reminds me of the best moments of Amused to Death for some reason.

May Jeff long keep his touch and chops!

Opinions are like...navels. Everybody's got one (usually). Here's yet another navel regarding Mr. Beck (with Van the Man):

Edit: Yeah, the reviewer mixed up "Superstition" and "Suspicious Minds" but whatever.

So Beck is touring Europe again with Jimmy Hall...and not getting great reviews. I gave him a miss in Paris last week as Roger Waters was in town. It seems Beck is playing a similar shortish set with Hall providing some lackluster vocals on tired old blues numbers. Can't see why anyone who saw him last year (thinking they would see a modernized show with Rosie) would bother going again, especially at inflated prices! In the meantime the US is getting a Beck/Paukl Rogers package that's not selling well, strange...

Thanks for the link. So very much the same show as a year and a half ago at Pleyel? Too bad he couldn't get Rosie (or someone else) to show up so he could play some material from his latest LP that was pretty refreshing. In fact I'm going to listen to it the next time I run ;-)

I was there too, personally I loved it but yeah I agree with you, the audience just weren't ready for that especially as The Stones were starting to settle in to the show.

There was also a co-headling tour w/ZZ Top several years ago at smallish ampitheaters (I think it was the first with Jimmy Hall), but that seemed to sell fairly well?
I attended one of those shows at the Greek Theater and bought VIP for apprx. $150 that included sitting in on soundcheck w/about 50 others, first few rows seat, t-shirt, canvas bag, laminate, etc. so was quite worth it imo.

He should get back to the small theater circuit. Headlining the Hollywood Bowl last year(and releasing a dvd/cd of it) seems to have elevated his status - in his head anyways.
It wasn't long ago that I saw him at the Wiltern, the House of Blues, a couple of other small/old theaters, and even an Indian Casino.

Hello,

I saw JB in Liverpool a couple of night's back in what was probably my most user-friendly JB show yet, with the Tufnel-esque noodling reduced and the addition of a vocalist for a few numbers.
He loves playing off drummers and he's got Vinnie Coliuta with him again: outrageous, hah-hah! On bass is the sublime Rhonda Smith and he also has cellist (and occasional guitarist) Vanessa Freebairn-Smith and on vocals is Jimmy Hall. The only constants for the 90 minutes were Rhonda and Vinnie and there appears to be a telepathic link between the trio.
I still have no clue as to how he generates the dextrous notes and then in a second he's strumming like crazy and yet no strings are broken, no changes of guitar needed and no re-tuning. To hear 'A Day In The Life' was enough to stop you dead in your tracks- I certainy don't have the words, and that was only one of several 'wtaf' moments.
This show was a genuine 1700-seat sell-out, and there were a couple of standing ovations which the band loved- who wouldn't? I know JB isn't everyone's cup of tea but this was an absoulute stormer!

I'm glad he's getting some of the recognition he deserves as a groundbreaking guitar player (especially as he was pretty much relegated to cult act status in the early 2000s) but I'm not sure how good his management is TBH, or if he has any ?

Sounds like you got a great "deal" and I was happy to see him in Paris 18 months ago from the first row (although I was disappointed it wasn't to play his latest album with Rosie unlike what was announced!) but it's a bit strange to see him back with the same singer that no one cares about playing pretty much the exact same setlist at inflated prices ? A free spirit like him surely can't find it satisfying ?

He sold out the Madison Square Garden Theater with Buddy Guy, Rosie Bones, etc. a couple of years ago. I saw that show and it was great. 11th row for $150. This time around he's playing Jones Beach and the Paramount, which are logistical nightmares. He played Jones Beach with BB King a few years ago and I skipped that also. Too bad as I love Jeff and have seen him many times. Jimmy Hall has a great voice for what he does but I'm not a big fan of him with Jeff. Jeff actually has a decent voice. Wish he would sing once in a while.

His new bio DVD (which was also a BBC special) is great. Jimmy Page and Ronnie Wood are featured prominently. Highly recommended for any Jeff fan.

I met Jeff a few years ago and he was extremely gracious. Has a great sense of humor.

Not the greatest quality (audio only) but gives a reasonable example of young Ronnie Wood kicking a## on bass.

I saw Jeff Beck at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Wednesday last week (the 13th), equally impressed and disappointed at the same time; impressed because of his tricky-as-ever virtuoso guitar playing as well as the impeccable performance of the combo (Vinnie Coliuta’s drumming is one to look at!), disappointed because it turned out to be a non-Loud Hailer show (no Carmen Vandenberg and Rosie Bones), which I missed out 2016-17.

One thing is for sure — I have caught him 21 times since 1978, never got bored one bit. Perhaps he’s like Marmite — love him or hate him.

Jeff really likes to shake up his lineup. (Just ask Ronnie!) I guess he grew disenchanted with Loud Hailer. Rosie and Carmen speak very highly of Jeff on the new Still On The Run DVD and Carmen does a nice duet with Jeff.

Beck seems like a complicated guy to me. Great talent but something off personality wise. Saw Rod Stewart this past saturday in Vegas, boring lounge music unfortunately, and remembered seeing Beck with Rod at the beginning of his tour in the 80s in Reno Nevada and a couple days later Beck was out of the tour?

I saw him prior to that at the old Comiskey Park in the south side of Chicago in the 70s with Jan Hammer and "Freeway JAm" rocked but the place started on fire, literally, during his set part of the roof started on fire and he got all pissed off as no one was watching him as they were focused on Bill Veeck the owner of the White Sox in the grandstand trying to fight the fire himself. Between songs I remember Jeff said "@#$%& the Fire" or something like that. It was hotter than any concert I've ever been and after they put out the fire they turned the fire hoses on the crowd of 100K to cool everyone off. What a nutty place the old Comiskey was, google Disco Demolition that happened a few years later for an even crazier experience that happened there. Bummer was it was concert one of the World Series of Rock, four great festival shows lined up over the summer and that killed it. They moved Skynyrd to a horse racing track but it wasnt the same...

Found this video about the fire, [www.youtube.com]

My buddy saw him in Chelsea last Friday and said it was good.

Re: OT: Jeff Beck

Seeing him this coming Friday in Nashville.....Just checked and more than 1/2 the tickets are still left and the really haven't discounted the prices too much yet.

I hope they sell more quick. Full arena makes for a better show to me.

I did see the Setlist from another Wilson / Rogers / Beck Show

Looks pretty good Beck till played 19 songs.

Saw the Beck w. Ann Wilson and Paul Rodgers bill a week or so ago in Boston. Jeff actually played the middle slot on this show (Rodgers closed - I guess they figure he's got the sing along Bad Co. songs).
I'm of the opinion that Jeff is simply the most brilliant guitar player ever - seen him many times over the years. This was maybe not the best I've ever seen him,(acoustics weren't that good in the outdoor tent) but he was still great. He has a female cello player with him this round, which made for some interesting moments. I could have done without Wilson or Rodgers - but that's just me. Crowd enjoyed Rodgers's set which included lots of big hits from the 70s.

Re: OT: Jeff Beck
Date: August 14, 2018 16:12

I guess they go back and forth on who takes the middle slot. Beck still gets the most songs from what I have read.

I think Beck in the middle would be cool.

Does Beck play any at all with Paul Rogers?

Does Beck play any at all with Paul Rogers?[/quote]

No - surprisingly, so far at least - they are 3 separate sets, with no interplay between the 3 acts. Jeff has Jimmy Hall who has sung with him for a few years now, to do some vocals on a handful of tunes in his set.
