Auburn followed Dallas. We had a charter jet from Fugazy Travel that was supposed to leave at 11 am... they called me at 6am in the morning to say they had to leave immediately and I had to get the Stones there. We missed the flight--I didn't bother to try to wake Keith. We got the only charter (prop plane) available and got to Auburn.. Roy Cohn was the attorney for Fugazy--they screwed us..

My 1981 MSG tickets were all $15. The Brendan Byrne arena across the river charged $15.75. These were floor and lower bowl seats.

If the media had come to me and asked about the ticket prices I would have shown them a request from a promoter, which was similar to all the requests to book a date. Promoters booked the tour for their city and priced their audience accordingly.

The Rose Bowl? Someone was thinking VERY big. We know the Seattle, Portland, etc's dates never occurred, but where was a 60,000 seat venue to be found in
Seattle on Nov. 1st? A for effort, but a very wet day it would have been!

Can’t remember if it was the Booth book, or the Lydon book, mentioning Jon Jaymes was on the phone to NY talking to and referring to “Big Paulie”
Wonder if that was Paul "Big Paul" Castellano, John Gottis predecessor?

Book reviewers that you trust for an accurate review?
Posted by: bmuseed ()

Are there any critics or book reviewers that you trust for Rolling Stones-Beatles-music memoir books?

Honestly, I feel I know more about the Stones than your typical book reviewer. Also, I read pretty much anything written about the Stones, so I'm not the most discriminating reader when it comes to them.
If you want to know about a particular book, just ask in here. The collective wisdom of iorr members is better than most reviewers.

I believe Bmuseed is looking for a reviewer for his own book.
How about Stanley Booth? I'd absolutely trust him.

What about PAUL TRYNKA ?
His recent biog of Brian was generally regarded as the most thorough and balanced book so far. Not without some critics...but what book is?
He also does book reviews for MOJO magazine, rated as one of the best music magazines.

Chet Flippo's!
He covered the beginning of the 75 tour, a few shows from 78 and... and... the Mocambo nights! (well maybe the 2nd Mocambo only).

What a guy! (RIP alas) thumbs up You can trust him 100% : about 78 he noticed the first bunch of shows were mediocre then the Stones performed "heroically" in Passaic. Ain't that the truth?

Bemussed - Anthony DeCurtis has a Facebook page. Contact him and ask him if he'd be willing to review your book. Good luck.

Out of Our Heads for Valentine's Day

I am planning a release party in the next couple of months. I felt guilty making everyone (fans at IORR) wait so I am offering the book --490 color pages in hardcover--on Valentine's Day. I put up a flip book sample of random pages Out of Our Heads with Proof of Truth (watch it at full screen) and a little video about the 1965 tour book.. I hope you enjoy ...

Out of Our Heads- Ronnie Scnheider's book
Posted by: hbwriter ()
Date: February 9, 2017 03:03

I received an advance copy of Ronnie's book last week and I just wanted everyone to know that I think you're in for something very special. I interviewed Ronnie after I finish reading it and will have a piece on HuffingtonPost next week about him and the book.

His perspective is quite unique and he's put a lot of time, energy and passion into creating something that allows readers to truly experience what his time was like with these guys.

Stay tuned...

Thanks for the heads-up. I have been watching for it. I just read a book called 'Alan Klein'and that was an eye-opener. It was written with an eye for neutral observation. The guy was a crook but he also pulled off a few miracles for the Stones and other groups. BTW Chris,I received a copy of your book "James Dean Died Here." It was a fun read and I enjoyed the meticulous detail through-out. It ought to be in the Barnes & Noble stores.
