A lot of Mick's solo stuff is pretty good; just far inferior to what he does with the Stones.

"Gonna find my way to heaven ..."

Wandering Spirit is actually far better than Voodoo Lounge, it simply has the better songs.

I always liked this. Mick tarty. Plus I also liked Don't Tear Me Up. And God Gave Me Everything is a decent rocker.

Oh yeah, Wandering Spirit is just a mother of a bitchin’ record. And Mick is just a mother of a man.

My favorite Jagger solo songs are: Hard Woman, State of Shock and Mother of a Man.

You could add You're So Vain. Practically takes over the chorus from the second one on.

So true, best backing vocal take over ever. Love this song.

Nice overview.
Yeah, You're so vain should be added.
And Sweet Thing was not with Lenny Kravitz, but Use Me was. (Don't think that was a single).

Just as long as the guitar plays, let it steal your heart away

Mick's and Dave Stewart's version of Memory Motel from the "Beyond the groove" soundtrack. Recorded in 1987, released in 1991.

He is also on the Chris Jagger-single from a couple of years back.

"Memo From Turner" seriously enduring. Breathtakingly brilliant. the single version from the movie soundtrack only. Wow! This is historic.
"Evening Gown" is a crowning achievement deserving endless praise. I love the writing and vocals. I'd say truly great. Lovely and amazing.

Now let's hear this new Stones album asap!

Oh and let’s not forget his stunning unhearable back-up vocals on one of Dr. John’s most unlistenable albums - The Sun, Moon & Herbs.

Evening Gown is one mother of a bitchin' song from one mother of a man. Best thing he did outside of the Stones by a country mile.

Just remembered more backing vocals:

Mr. Blue - Pay, Pack and Follow album by John Phillips
The Beatles - All You Need Is Love (Our World TV broadcast)

Ruthless People is brilliant. So sorry that it did not became a Dirty-Work-song. Would have made the album even better, although Winning Ugly is a great substitute. Just Another Night & Lonely At The Top could have been great Stones-songs, what a waste.

Wandering Spirit is his best solo-work (no wonder, compared to his other oh so crappy solo-albums), yet it has its share of fillers and unpleasing moments.

Not sure about that, as Mick and Rubin didn't get along and Mick ended up doing the album his way, if memory serves..

Is it just me thinking that the song "Goddess In The Doorway" could have worked much better in a Stones' setting?

Correct DP. Plus "Zulu Warrior." I haven't played it in years as when I first bought it it was not a particular favourite. I'll give it a spin today and see if it has aged gracefully.

All I could find about this is a movie named "Lapse of Memory" from 1992. The soundtrack seems to have Memory Motel on it but the Stones version...
