Saw the Rollin Clones a couple of nights ago and they were great.

Anyone else seen a stones tribute band recently?

i've seen many stones tribute bands in my life, but by far the best is beggars banquet, a tribute band based in chicago. not only are they very talented musicians, but they totally embrace the humor and onstage presence of the stones in concert. we're very fortunate to have them here!

I remember someone posted here while ago a Youtube clip of a cover band from South America (Agrentina? Chile? Brazil?) who perfectly covered '81 live set with the sound, clothes, Jagger moves and all. Forgot their name unfortunately.

In the Netherlands:
I'm particularly fond of Undercover. Every gig is a party and musically they are close to the real thing. Go see them if you get a chance.

Stolling Rones is fun

I've seen FLip the Switch a few times in the past, but they moved on to do other things (the guitarist, Matthijs, used to be very actively participating in guitar conversations on this board).

Hollywood Stones are entertaining..as well as one of their members plays Mick Taylor?

A few band changes over the years but the current Keith is spot on for 72 - 75 looks.

Their vocalist's stage name is Dick Swagger.

I saw them a year or so ago, they weren't that awful...well, maybe they were. smiling smiley

But, I went into the show just expecting to have some fun with my friends and that's really all I remember about it.

Some of these bands with lookalike Mick Jaggers are really hilarious. But this French band sounds very good I think.

My favourite Stones tribute band? Rocks Off from Sweden. The singer is pretty close to Jagger - at least vocal wise. Here's an example: [www.youtube.com]
They even have an official website: [www.rocksoffsweden.com] and a Facebook page: [sv-se.facebook.com]

I agree - I think he's fantastic. Along with many other fans I saw them play at the Stampen pub in Stockholm 2 years ago the night before the real band played at the Tele2. They do a wide ranging setlist with big hits and rare treats for the fans. Great night.

Do you remember what the band we saw in Oslo was called, Gregor? They were pretty good, I'd say. Great versions of GHS/IORR era stuff, if memory serves smiling smiley

I have seen several tribute bands and I did not like any. Nothing wrong with these bands; the problem is that Stones are impossible to cover.

The nice thing with tribute band is that they sometimes play songs never played live by the Stones - it is quite a treat!

We have a very good band in Hungary, the Stoned. One of their best gigs were when they played almost every number from TY (among others and warhorses)

Everyone to his own taste. But If there were tribute bands based only in music I would avoid laughs. I mean...i you really love stones just play their music and elaborate on their songs, try to find new ways of expression to their music, trying to extract new flavours to their melodies...
